Coronavirus Update
Tuesday 10 March, 2020
Motorsport Australia is well aware of the ever-changing, fluid nature of the situation regarding COVID-19 (more commonly known as the Coronavirus).
A special working group has been established internally to monitor and continually update our key stakeholders and members with the latest information, in line with advice from both the state and federal governments.
The Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix will go ahead this week, with a number of extra precautions in place at the event to ensure the risk of infection is reduced. This includes increased sanitary measures, public information signage and additional hand sanitation points.
Motorsport Australia is also in constant contact with the event organisers, working closely with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and Formula 1.
With a number of officials working at the Grand Prix, we are also in regular communication with our loyal officials to ensure any queries or concerns they have are being responded to.
Outside of the Australian Grand Prix event, we will work closely with all Motorsport Australia permitted event organisers to ensure they understand and are fully aware of the precautions that should be put in place at their events.
All motorsport participants, officials and spectators are urged to follow the government’s advice on how best to protect yourself from the virus and also practice good hygiene methods, whether at the track, at home or anywhere else in public.
