Love and Mawson to join forces in 2020 Supercup

Jordan Love and Joey Mawson will contest the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.
Australians Jordan Love and Joey Mawson will contest this year’s Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup as teammates after the duo were signed by Swiss outfit FACH AUTO TECH.

After taking out the 2019 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia, Love will continue his rise up the Porsche Motorsport pyramid when he makes his international series debut later this year, while Mawson will continue his development in the Supercup after finishing second in the Rookie classification last year.

The duo will join Dutchman Jaap van Lagen in a three-car entry for the Sattel-based team, who will compete in the one-make series for the eighth consecutive year, a period that has seen the team claim a title and three runners-ups.

Team Principal Alex Fach was excited for what the drivers would offer the team as it looks to build on its impressive list of achievements in the Supercup.

“No-one knows when the motorsport season will start. But we can’t just sit here and do nothing. We will once again be part of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and want to be successful,” Fach said.

“That’s why we need to be well-equipped to take the season on once it gets going. In Joey and Jordan, we have two young, talented drivers who have shown in the past that they have what it takes to win races.”

For Love, the Supercup will be the next big step in his career and the West Australian was looking forward to the challenge.

“I'm extremely excited to take this big step,” Love added.

“The move from Australia to the Supercup is going to present its challenges but I have a great team around me to make the transition as smooth as possible.”

While Love will have to wait before he can make his international Porsche debut, the 20-year-old will be keeping himself busy during the isolation period after securing a place in the Virtual Porsche Mobile 1 Supercup Championship.

Run via the iRacing simulation portal on a simulator, the four-round Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup Virtual Edition will be broadcasted via the category’s YouTube and Twitch video platforms, starting on 4 April.
