Cooper Murray has continued his strong form in the Porsche PAYCE and Michelin Virtual Cup, claiming a clean sweep of race wins during the competition’s second round.
With qualifying and the first race set at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before moving to Daytona for races two and three, Murray proved too good for the rest of the field, taking out top spot over Matthew Payne and special guest Jaxon Evans in the
opening race.
Rounding out the top five was 2019 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia winner Harri Jones and Christian Pancione, who edged out international star Matt Campbell.
A change in location wasn’t enough to stop Murray’s brilliant run, with the 18-year-old winning both races at the United States based track – his closest challenge coming through Evans who finished the round’s remaining
races in second and fourth respectively.
Payne also backed up his race one runner-up finish with a fourth and podium placing at Daytona, putting him equal with Evans for the night, while Campbell’s best result was runner-up in the final race.
It was a tough end to the round for Jones after the Queenslander secured third place in the evening’s middle race, before failing to make the top 10 in the final race.
It was a similar fate shared by Will Bamber who started the evening off with two top 10 finishes, including a round-high fifth place in the second race, before dropping down the order in the final race.
Porsche fans can watch the round’s highlights at 8pm AEST on Friday, 22 May via Porsche Motorsport Australia’s social media platforms and YouTube Channel.
The next round of the Porsche PAYCE and Michelin Virtual Cup will take place on 1 June at Monza in Italy.
