The MTA NSW Rally Championship has announced a revised 2020 calendar with five-rounds to form part of this year’s state championship.

Scheduled to begin on 4 July, the championship will commence with the AMH Automotive Rally of the Bay in Batemans Bay before heading to the central west town of Oberon in September for the Caves Classic.

Featuring a number of brand-new stages in the town’s pine plantations, which replace the Jenolan and Hampton State Forests stages, the popular Caves Classic is expecting to attract a very strong field.

Taking place later that month will be the Netier National Capital Rally, while the Light Car Club of Canberra will host the Kosciuszko Automotive Monaro Stages at the end of October.

Based in Bombala in the Southern Alps, the championship’s penultimate round will see competitors tackle 190km of competitive stages over some vintage roads, reminiscent of rallies from the 1980s.

The season finale will take place in the state’s north coast region on the last weekend of November, with the exact location to be announced closer to the date.

Also running at every round this year will be East Coast Classic Rally Series, while the TechWorkz Clubman Rally Series and Premier Panel Beating Hyundai Rally Series will feature in the Rally of the Bay, Caves Classic and Monaro Stages, as well as compete in the Horizon Apartments Narooma Forest Rally.

Before the events can officially go ahead, all rallies will need to meet strict government requirements that apply at the time of each rally, as well as those set out in the Motorsport Australia’s Return to Race strategy.

2020 Rally NSW Schedule:

4 July - Rally of the Bay
1 August - Narooma Forest Rally
5 September - Caves Classic
26-27 September - Netier National Capital Rally
