Will Brown has been accepted into the Hyundai Motorsport’s Customer Racing Junior Driver program.
Young TCR Australia star Will Brown is one of four drivers across the globe selected for Hyundai Motorsport’s Customer Racing Junior Driver program this year.
Alongside Hungarian Daniel Nagy and Swedish siblings Jessica and Andreas Bäckman, the 22-year-old will look to follow in the footsteps of the program’s most recent graduate in Luca Engstler, who earned a full-time seat for the 2020 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup season.
As part of the program, the four talented juniors will have access to Hyundai Customer Racing’s department engineers and have mentoring from four current i30 N TCR drivers on the WTCR grid.
They will also receive support away from the track with individual feedback and receive assistance in building their motorsport profile through improving media skills both online and in person.
The aim of the program will be to give them a solid pathway into the highest level of international touring car competition, the FIA WTCR
Having claimed seven races during his title-winning efforts in the inaugural carsales TCR Australia Series last year, Brown was looking forward to taking the next step in his career.
“To be a part of the Hyundai Motorsport Junior Driver program is a great honour,” Brown said.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on track for HMO Customer Racing in 2020 to defend my title and also take advantage of this fantastic program which is designed to create a pathway into WTCR.
“I can’t thank Hyundai Motorsport and HMO Customer Racing enough for this opportunity.”
HMO Customer Racing’s Barry Morcom praised Brown for his efforts last year and believed he was the perfect candidate for the program.
“Will has shown that he has all the hallmarks of being a future star in WTCR,” Morcom explained.
“We’re thrilled that Hyundai Motorsport recognises his talent and is offering Will the opportunity to take his career to the international stage in the future.
“We look forward to seeing Will’s performance grow with the support of the Hyundai Motorsport Junior Driver program.”
