The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship has released details for the remaining rounds in the revised 2020 calendar.
With the Robson Civil Projects Townsville SuperSprint to wrap up the four week Supercars frenzy this weekend, the championship has confirmed a further three rounds will conclude what has been a whirlwind season.
Following the conclusion of the upcoming round this weekend, teams and drivers will have a much needed two week break before heading to South Australia for a double header at The Bend Motorsport Park.
Tailem Bend will hold two events over two straight weekends with the first to run on 19-20 September and the second to take place the following week on 26-27 September.
After the two South Australian rounds, the championship will then head to New South Wales for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, which as expected, will act as the ‘grand final’ of the season.
However it will now take place one week later than initially scheduled, with a new date of 18 October.
Supercars CEO Sean Seamer believed it would be an exciting end to the season.
“This is our marquee event on the calendar and this year it will also be our series decider, making it an even more memorable occasion,” Seamer said.
“We looked at all options beyond Bathurst as well as the best options for our Victorian teams, who will have been on the road for over 100 days by the completion of the event.
“Getting those drivers, team personnel and officials’ home to loved ones was at the forefront of this decision.
“The 18 October date change was made to allow all teams adequate time to prepare for the biggest event of the year.
“We will now start planning for our first-ever grand finale at our most iconic circuit, a fitting farewell for our 60th year of racing.”
More format and event details for the all three rounds will be released in the coming weeks.
