Rally crews keen to tackle the popular AMH Auto Group Rally of the Bay can lock in their spot, with the event now accepting entries.
Taking place in Batemans Bay, the rally will host two separate events across the weekend with the second round of the Motorsport Australia NSW Rally Championship and a shorter Bay Ramble event for NSW Clubman series entrants. It also takes on the title of a promotional round of the RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship, the first of its kind.
Hosted by North Shore Sporting Car Club next month, the state championship round will see crews covering around 128 competitive kilometres via two passes of four stages, while Bay Ramble crews will contest the first seven stages.
Boasting some of the best rally roads the country has to offer, the event will see crews return to the famous Ridge Road for the first time in many years, where they will tackle the fast-flowing corners along the ridgeline.
Also included in the rally will be the rollercoaster stage of Buckenbowra before a quick service break sets crews up for the challenging yet entertaining Western Distributor and Clyde Ridge stages.
At the completion of the morning’s four stages, it’s back to the Collecting Cars Service Park and then another opportunity to tackle all four stages again in the afternoon.
With the Ceremonial Start at Corrigan’s Beach Reserve to kick off the rally in the morning, Event Manager and Club Vice President Nigel Bland was happy with how the event was looking.
“We’re really pleased with how this year’s event has come together,” Bland said.
“We were a bit worried about the condition of some of the roads we normally use, but we’ve managed to work around it and have come up with a route that we know our crews are going to love.
“Entries are now open and we’re expecting a big contingent of teams from the NSW Rally Championship and Clubman Rally Series. This rally was always planned for them, and they’ll be our top priority.
“We know that there’ll be plenty of competition from the State and Clubman competitors and I’m really looking forward to welcoming them to the Bay”.
“But we’re really excited that our rally has also become a promotional round of the Australian Rally Championship. We’ve already had plenty of enquiries from the major ARC teams and I expect we’ll see a good number of them at the AMH Rally of the Bay.”
The AMH Rally of the Bay takes place in and around the forests of Batemans Bay on Saturday 17 of July
