With the state’s borders currently closed to New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland and uncertainty surrounding when they will reopen, the unfortunate decision to cancel has been made.

 

The Kalgoorlie round of the championship is the second consecutive round to be cancelled after Tasmania’s St Helens round, which was supposed to take place at the start of this month.

 

Championship founder Sam Beck was understandably disappointed but admitted it was a decision that needed to be made now.

 

“I would love to hold out for as long as we could in the hopes that the situation improves, but unfortunately there are many factors behind running a round and it just wasn’t possible,” Beck said.

 

“It’s definitely disappointing that we have to cancel another round, but we have to take our competitors, officials and stakeholders into account and what’s best for their preparation. 

 

“Logistically, it would be too much of a risk to wait until September as Kalgoorlie is quite a distance, so we made the call now to avoid any issues later down the track.

 

“Hopefully we resume the season soon and we’re very much looking forward to our next round at The Bend.”

 

The Kincrome SXS Motorsport Australia Championship’s next round will held in October with the round to feature as part of a huge fortnight of motorsport in South Australia.

 

Starting in mid-October, the Kincrome SXS Motorsport Australia Championship will run alongside back-to-back rounds of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships on 16 October.

 

The massive fortnight of motorsport will also feature the RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship’s AGI Sport Adelaide Hills Rally. Motorsport Australia’s popular grassroots development programs, FIA Girls On Track and Ricciardo’s Racers will also feature as part of the various events.

 

The fourth round of the 2021 Kincrome SXS Motorsport Australia Championship takes place at The Bend Motorsport Park on 16 October.
