Aaron Haby has produced another masterclass performance in a South Australia Off Road Association event, dominating the 2021 Gotcha Glass Wynarka Enduro from start to finish. 
  
The 2020 Motorsport Australia Off Road East Cup winner and navigator Chelsea Haby continued their impressive run of recent form to comfortably beat the other 45 participating crews.  
  
Right from the get-go Haby was on song, going fastest in Prologue by two seconds over fellow Pro-Buggy driver Brenton Forsyth while Prolite pilot David Hall went third fastest a further second off the pace. 
  
However that’s as close as anyone got to Haby with the 2021 Symons-Clark Logistics Richard Bennett Memorial Enduro winner going fastest in every single one of the event’s 14 laps.  
  
Starting with the fastest lap of the day of under 10 minutes, Haby then went under 11 minutes for the remaining 13 lap and was the only driver to do so, before eventually claiming a victory of almost five and a half minutes. 


  
“It’s pretty awesome to produce a performance like that. It was a culmination of hard work because it took a year to set up this car and it’s even more satisfying because I built it myself,” Haby said. 
  
“It’s also very cool to win at a course like that. Didn’t know what to expect as I hadn’t been for five years, but I loved the club atmosphere there and it was a wild track making the event good fun.  
  
“Although I was showing great pace, I was never comfortable. You can’t be in off road racing because there are so many risks, but I kept pushing and the lap times kept coming.  
  
“I was nervous for the whole event, I was comfortable but I wasn’t comfortable because I felt that it was mine to lose after a few laps as I had built a good lead, but anything can happen.” 
  
In second place behind Haby was regular BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) Mel Brandle, who did an amazing job to climb from his Prologue position of seventh.

The Prolite class winner’s consistency was key in his rise up the field, with all but four of his laps falling within 11 minutes as he eventually crossed the finish line four minutes ahead of Forsyth. 
  
The battle for the final podium position went right down to the wire though as Forsyth held onto third place by less than three seconds over a fast charging Andrew Fitzgerald. 
  
Forsyth got the better start of the two with the outright second fastest time on the first lap, but Fitzgerald went on a solid run over the next four laps to build a 15 second gap of his own.  
  
However a disastrous sixth lap saw him clock up one of the slowest times of the whole field, three and half minutes slower Forsyth, which saw him drop down the order.  
  
Despite the setback, Fitzgerald then climbed his way back into contention and went faster on the remaining eight laps, including the outright second fastest time on the final two laps. 
  
It wasn’t enough though as Forsyth held onto third place in what turned out to be a thrilling battle.  Just two minutes off Fitzgerald was Daryl Nissen, who rounded out the top five. 


  
Missing out on a top five finish were Chris Pickert and Shane Waters, although neither went home empty handed with Pickert winning the Performance 2WD and Waters the Sportslite class.

Other notable results saw the ninth placed Sam Vanstone take out the Super 1650 Buggy class, John (Doc) Smith the fastest of the Extreme 2WD cars and Aaron Harre the Extreme 4WD class.
