Porsche 2021 calendars finalised

Thursday 07 October, 2021
The Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia and Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia remaining racing calendar has been confirmed with a busy fortnight to see off the 2021 season.

Having already completed three rounds in 2021, the Carrera Cup will run another three rounds this year, while its feeder series will complete two more rounds.

The Carrera Cup will be the first to resume its season after being included as a support category for the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000, which will run as a huge six-day event on 30 November – 5 December.

Australia’s premier one-make series will then head to The Bend Motorsport Park one week later as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships, where it will complete a special double round at the South Australian circuit.

While they’re not on the Bathurst 1000 bill, competitors in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Series will still enjoy plenty of racing with a double round of their own at The Bend on 10-12 December also confirmed.

Porsche Cars Australia’s Head of Motorsport, Troy Bundy was pleased to lock in a calendar for the rest of the year.

“We want to go racing as much as anybody and are doing all within our means to get our teams and drivers back on track.” Bundy said.

“This announcement provides the opportunity for both categories to try to complete their seasons in what has been a challenging year for all key stakeholders.

“I would like to thank our competitors and teams for all the continued support they have provided us during the year, as well as Supercars Australia and Motorsport Australia on working with us over the last few months to achieve the best possible opportunities to go racing again.”

As it stands, Cameron Hill has a comfortable lead of 80 points over Cooper Murray in the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup, with the drop-round ruling from last year a possibility of being implemented again due to a number of teams being unable to attend events.

The title battle in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge is much closer with just 26 points separating Ryan Suhle and Christian Pancione after two rounds.
