Entries for the opening round of the 2022 RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship (ARC) are now officially open.

In what is expected to be another big year for the Championship, the Netier National Capital Rally will get the historic seven-round season underway at the start of April.

Similar to previous years, crews will contest around 177 competitive kilometres during the Endurance event, which will be spread across 13 picturesque stages over three heats in and around the forests of Canberra.

Competitors have until 8pm AEDT on Friday 18 March to enter the two-day event with the number of entries capped to 60.

The season opener will also mark the first-time crews can enter an ARC round via the Motorsport Australia event entry portal.

After completing 109 competitive kilometres over the first three sections on the = Saturday, a shorter day awaits ARC crews on Sunday with 73 kilometres over six stages to take place, including the 10-kilometre Bald Hill 2 Power Stage.

While entries have only just opened, a number of ARC stars have expressed their desire to compete, including current champion Harry Bates, Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia teammate Lewis Bates, 2017 champion Nathan Quinn and Victorian gun Arron Windus.

In addition to the big rally names, current Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen has also committed to the opening round of the 2022 season, having secured a Race Torque Engineering prepared Skoda Fabia R5 rally car.

Outside of the national championship starting its season off, the Canberra-based rally will host the commencement of the 2022 season for the Motorsport Australia NSW Rally Championship, East Coast Classic Rally Series and ACT Regional Rally Series, which crews can enter via the link above.

State and local rally crews will complete a shorter event as opposed to the national competition, with all three to only officially run on the Saturday.
