The schedule for the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022 has been released with a huge 22 hours of track time to run over four days in April.
Taking place at the newly resurfaced Albert Park in Victoria, fans attending the grand return of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship will be treated to 35 sessions of on-track entertainment.
The headline act will of course be Formula 1, where the world’s best drivers will battle it out in the third round of the 2022 season.
Fans will get their first glimpses of the 10 teams in action on the Friday with two practice sessions in the afternoon, before the third and final practice sets up Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session.
On Sunday at 3pm local time, the official race will get underway and will wrap up the first Australian Grand Prix since 2019 by 5pm.
Outside of Formula 1’s regular five sessions, there will be three major national categories playing a supporting role,
Returning to Albert Park, the Repco Supercars Championship will again see the most successful driver awarded the Larry Perkins Trophy, and the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship, while the S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship will make its long-awaited debut racing appearance on the world stage.
Both Supercars and the Carrera Cup will enjoy four races during the event and S5000 will have three - with all support categories to have their races between Friday and Sunday.
In addition to the four championships’ track sessions, three will also be multiple demonstrations on show throughout with the Shannons Historic Demonstration and the much-loved Targa Florio Australian Tribute Rally.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation – Division Manager David Corrigan was looking forward to a jam-packed weekend.
“After a three-year hiatus, today’s announcement marks fifty days until Formula 1 cars return to the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit. It’s been a long time coming and we’re thrilled to bring motorsport back to Victoria in a big way,’ Corrigan said.
“Whether you love bold sounds and fast race cars, or classic cars you would expect to see in a museum, the Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022 has you covered.”
There are still plenty of ground passes for all four days available, while only grandstand tickets for Thursday and Friday remain on sale.

With lots of track action taking place over the course of the four days, 1000 Motorsport Australia volunteer officials will be on hand to make sure the event runs smoothly.
The Formula 1 Heineken Australian Grand Prix 2022 takes place at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne on 7-10 April.
