Motorsport Australia congratulates newly appointed Federal Minister for Sport, the Hon. Anika Wells MP.

Minister Wells was today sworn in along with the rest of the Albanese Government’s new cabinet.

Motorsport Australia President Andrew Fraser welcomed Minister Wells to the important sports portfolio.

“On behalf of everyone at Motorsport Australia, we congratulate Minister Wells on her appointment as Minister for Sport,” Fraser said.

“Motorsport itself is enjoying a strong period of growth and we are looking forward to working closely with the new Federal Government to showcase just how brilliant our sport is, for competitors, officials and fans alike.

“As we know from our recent Ernst & Young study, motorsport contributes $8.6b to the Australian economy each year, and supports more than 45,000 direct and in-direct jobs. With events taking place around the country we know how important all events are to their respective regions, whether it be a local motorkhana or a national or international event and the associated economic benefits these bring.

“Motorsport also provides many social benefits, with the opportunity for all participants to enjoy each other’s company no matter their role. These benefits have wide-reaching and positive implications for the community and we know the motorsport family is certainly very close.”
