Two Repco Supercars Championship team owners have been recognised in today’s Queen Birthday Honours list.

Both Betty Klimenko and Dr Ryan Story were appointed Members of the Order of Australia (AM) for their services to the sport, as well as other contributions to society through charitable organisations.

For Story, his ongoing support of motorsport as co-owner and Chairman of Dick Johnson Racing (DJR), as Chair of the Australian Motor Racing Commission (AMRC) and numerous other roles in the sport were celebrated. His work with Camp Quality and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia as both a fundraiser and ambassador for the organisation were also highlighted.

Meanwhile, Klimenko – team owner of Erebus Motorsport – was lauded for her work in the sport, as well as her lengthy list of support for causes including the Steve Waugh Foundation, Cure for Cancer Foundation, Hogs for the Homeless and Feel the Magic.

Motorsport Australia President Andrew Fraser congratulated the pair on their worthy honours.

“Both Betty and Ryan are terrific supporters of motorsport and give up so much of their time to make sure our sport thrives, so today’s news is certainly well deserved,” Fraser said.

“On behalf of everyone we congratulate Betty and Ryan on being appointed Members of the Order of Australia (AM) and celebrate their success and thank them for everything they do, and not just in motorsport but for numerous charity organisations they work so tirelessly for.

“As Chair of the Australian Motor Racing Commission, we work closely with Ryan across many aspects of the sport and he is determined to see more people enjoying more motorsport more often and supporting our officials, competitors and fans. It’s an honour worth highlighting and recognising.”
