Shane van Gisbergen has completed his clean sweep of the OTR Supersprint after winning both of Sunday’s races.
 
The Kiwi extended his lead at the top of the Repco Supercars Championship standings thanks to two solid performances where he picked up both the race win and fastest lap.
 
The three victories also helped Holden to an unassailable 121-point lead, which secured the Manufacturer Championship.
 
Remarkably, van Gisbergen didn’t start either of Sunday’s races from pole position but found himself crossing the finish line first in two outings that proved dramatic.
 
In Sunday’s first 24-lap race, a significant crash off the line between the second placed Thomas Randle and Andre Heimgartner saw the race red flagged for more than 30 minutes, thankfully both drivers walked away without any serious injuries.
 
Once the race did get underway, van Gisbergen passed pole sitter Cam Waters after the latter attempted an undercut before opting for the long strategy again, which paid off for the second time – the Triple Eight Racing star beating Chaz Mostert by two and half seconds.
 
“Shame to see that crash at the start, glad those guys are okay,” van Gisbergen said post-race 22.
 
“On the restart, I didn’t get a good start again, we had an awesome race back through.
 
“I couldn’t believe it when those guys pitted and got clear air and just pushed off.
 
“We were planning to do the undercut then, but they did it and we got clear air."
 
It was a solid run from Mostert himself, who jumped from sixth to second, while James Courtney rounded out the podium, having moved up just one position.
 
A disappointed Waters finished the race in fourth, but still had his second pole position up his sleeve, only to once again lose it to van Gisbergen.  
 

With rain affecting the final race of the round, drivers started behind the safety car until lap three and although Waters made a decent start to the race, van Gisbergen applied the pressure and eventually overtook him.
 
Clean air saw van Gisbergen charge out to a four second lead, which eventually turned to eight seconds as he claimed his fourth win in a row.
 
"That was awesome, racing someone who has nothing to lose," van Gisbergen added post race.
 
"What an awesome weekend, can’t thank the team enough.
 
"Man, what an awesome weekend."
 
Rounding out the podium behind Waters was Brodie Kostecki who took advantage of the many cars to stop throughout the wet chaos, climbing from 13th to third.
 
The Repco Supercars Championship continues next month with the Penrite Oil Sandown SuperSprint on 19-21 August.
