Motorsport Australia is saddened to learn of the passing of Ian Curwen-Walker.
A Service Star (awarded in 1999) and Motorsport Australia Life Member (2006), Ian made a valuable contribution to motorsport for many years, working tirelessly to improve the sport.
A key member of the MG Car Club of South Australia, Ian was the Motorsport Australia (then CAMS) delegate for the club and was a strong advocate.
Ian was also one of the founding members of the MG Car Club of South Australia, which was established in 1956. Such was his contribution that in 2020, the club named a room at its headquarters as the ‘Ian Curwen-Walker Room’
Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith paid tribute to Ian’s service.
“Ian was a wonderful supporter and contributor to motorsport, particularly in South Australia,” Smith said.
“He was a highly valued member of the MG Car Club of South Australia and the news of his passing will no doubt be widely felt across South Australia and those who knew or had dealt with Ian during his many decades in motorsport.
“On behalf of everyone at Motorsport Australia, we send our condolences to Ian’s family, friends and motorsport colleagues.”
