Former ARC competitor, Adrian Coppin is now the Motorsport Australia General Manager – Events, Rally & Off Road.

Motorsport Australia has appointed experienced administrator and competitor Adrian Coppin to the newly created role of General Manager – Events, Rally & Off Road.

Previously Motorsport Australia’s Events Manager, and an accomplished former motorsport competitor in his own right, Coppin brings extensive motorsport events and administration experience to the new role which will include managing the implementation of the Targa Review recommendations.

With Targa style tarmac rallies expected to return later this year, Coppin will work with event organisers and the Australian Rally Commission on a number of key initiatives and plans to allow for the discipline’s return.

Coppin will also continue to oversee the Bosch Motorsport Australia Rally Championship (ARC), Polaris Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) and Shannons SpeedSeries events as they experience strong growth.

Coppin was excited about the new opportunity.

“I’ve loved every minute working with Motorsport Australia in recent years and this new role will be a wonderful challenge to take on board,” Coppin said.

“I look forward to working closely with the very talented event organisers and competitors across the country, including delivering the return of Targa style tarmac rallies here in Australia.

“We have a great team of people at Motorsport Australia and there is certainly real positivity about what lies ahead in the short and long term for our sport. I can’t wait to get started in this new chapter of my career.”

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport and Commercial Operations Michael Smith congratulated Coppin on his appointment.

“Adrian is a well-respected and highly credentialled operator who has been doing great things in motorsport,” Smith said.

“We are delighted to have Adrian take on an important role that will have significant impacts and influence on motorsport in Australia.

“The recent resurgence of the Bosch Motorsport Australia Rally Championship is certainly in part thanks to Adrian’s hard work and strategic vision. We are confident that same vision will be integral to the return of Targa style tarmac rallies, as well as taking Motorsport Australia’s other key events to the next level.”

Coppin has already commenced in his new role and regular updates on Targa style tarmac rallies will be provided in the lead up to events returning later this year.
