Tarmac rally tech regs released
Thursday 24 August, 2023
Motorsport Australia has published the 2023 Tarmac Rally Technical Regulations.
Motorsport Australia has published the 2023 Tarmac Rally Technical Regulations ahead of the return of Targa style tarmac rallies later this year.
The upcoming Shannons Adelaide Rally in November will be the first event to utilise these regulations, with excitement building ahead of the popular South Australian event.
The regulations,
which can be viewed here, include details on vehicle eligibility and other key technical details, which should be read in conjunction with the event’s specific Supplementary and Further Regulations available at
www.adelaiderally.com.au.
Motorsport Australia has worked closely with organisers of the Shannons Adelaide Rally to ensure this year’s event goes ahead as planned.
Given the co-operation and support from event organisers, Motorsport Australia has also agreed to provide one-off free licence upgrades for competitors requiring an International Licence as part of the
new tarmac rally licence structure. Those needing a licence upgrade should apply through the usual
International Licence application and note when submitting their application they are competing in the Shannons Adelaide Rally. Any competitor with further queries about licencing can
contact the membership team directly.
All drivers and navigators in the rally’s competition categories must also complete the $75 online competitor training course as
outlined in the recent licence requirements. This online course can
be booked here.
Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca thanked those who had worked hard to deliver these new technical regulations.
“This is an important milestone in the return of Targa style tarmac rally events in Australia and we worked closely with Tim Possingham and the entire team at the Shannons Adelaide Rally to permit this event,” Arocca said.
“The Shannons Adelaide Rally is a terrific event and adds to a very busy November for South Australia, with competitors and motorsport fans from around the country expected to attend this event, along with the VAILO Adelaide 500 the following week.
“A big thank you must also go to the Australian Rally Commission (ARCom) members who have spent much time preparing these regulations alongside our Motorsport Australia staff who are committed to seeing these events return.”
Entries for the 2023 Shannons Adelaide Rally, held on 16-19 November, can be submitted at
