The Queensland rally scene is gearing up for another sensational weekend, with the third of the KickAss Products Motorsport Australia Queensland Rally Championship (QRC) taking place on the legendary roads of the Imbil Forest.

Hosted by the Brisbane Sporting Car Club, the event will be service championship finale, with the state title up for the taking by any of the top three drivers.

As it stands, QRC frontrunners Ian Menzies and Glenn Brinkman are currently tied with 91 points apiece, with all eyes to be on the two protagonists for the final round.

After taking out the win in July’s Accent Benchtops Rally Queensland, all eyes will be on Menzies and co-driver Robert McGowan to see if they can replicate that performance amidst pressure from Brinkman and Steven Richardson, who won the opening round of the season.

Sitting in third place on the outright standings with 70 points of his own is Ryan Williams, with the youngster close enough to Menzies and Brinkman to close the gap and snatch the title himself.

Behind the wheel of 2004 Subaru Impreza STI alongside Brad Jones, Williams will be one to watch this Saturday if he can match the pace he’s achieved in past rounds and make it through the day trouble-free.

As is customary for the QRC, crews will be able to earn points for both Heat 1 and Heat 2, plus an additional bonus of five points for finishing both heats, which will be essential to separating these drivers on the leader board.

Of course, while the top three crews will have vying for the outright title, there are a further 20 crews entered in the QRC component of the event across 10 stages, covering 124 kilometres of competitive distance.

In addition to the QRC, Saturday will also see the third round of the KickAss Motorsport Australia QLD 2WD Rally Championship, QLD Junior Rally Championship, Acworth Recruitment Queensland Clubman Rally Series, and the Virtual Security Guard Queensland Novice Rally Series take place, as well as the fifth round of the East Coast Classic Series.

The current frontrunners of each of these competitions will also be returning, making for a weekend of fierce competition all round.

More information can be found on the QRC website.
