Aussies in UK begin 2024 seasons at Oulton Park
Tuesday 02 April, 2024
Oulton Park hosted the GB3 and GB4 Championships on the weekend, where there were three Aussies in action.
A number of young Australians began their 2024 British campaigns over the weekend as the GB3 and GB4 Championships kicked off their seasons at Oulton Park.
With Patrick Heuzenroeder and Filipino-Australian Flynn Jackes entered in GB3, and Jack Taylor running in the GB4, it was a bit of a mixed weekend for all three drivers,
In GB3, Heuzenroeder enjoyed the stronger start of the two Aussies and showed plenty of pace in what was the first outing in his debut full season.
Qualifying in P12, the New South Welshman managed to make a position in the opening race to finish just outside the top 10, before climbing two places in the second race.
His ninth place finish in race two saw him starting from pole position in the final race of the weekend as a result of the reverse grid but had an unfortunate end to the 12-lap affair, with a loss of power forcing him to retire after just four laps.
As for Jackes, he finished race one and two with a P16 and P14 to bank some solid points in the opening races but dropped back out of the points in the final race after crossing the line in 16th again.
At the conclusion of the season opener, Heuzenroeder sits in equal 11th place, while Jackes sits a further nine points behind in P16.
In GB4, Taylor finished the weekend in 11th place after he had a challenging start to his debut season.
Qualifying in P10, Taylor finished the first race of the round where he started but dropped down to 11th in the second race of the weekend.
The 16-year-old then ended the round on a positive note by making up three spots to finish in P8.
All three drivers will be in action at the end of the month, with the GB3 and GB4 Championship to resume on 27-28 April.
