The Trico Trans Am Series wrapped up Friday’s action with the second qualifying session of the day which was taken out by James Golding.

In what was a thrilling session, Golding ended up piping series leader, James Moffat, by almost half a second, while Jordan Boys missed out on a front row start by less than a 10th. up third by just

The two practice sessions earlier in the day couldn’t have been more different as Moffat went fastest in a wet morning session before Golding led the way in the dryer afternoon run.

Golding seemed in a league of his own as his second lap in the session clocked in at 1:32.3428 – eight tenths faster than the second-placed Moffat and more than as second faster than the third-placed Jordan Boys.

So different were the two sessions – Moffat’s best time in session one was almost 10 seconds slower, with Golding and Edan Thornborrow making up the top 10.

In the Pro-Am Class, Joshua Webster was fastest in both sessions, comfortably beating Mark Bailey by three seconds in the first session before the Chevrolet Camaro driver brought back the difference to just three tenths in the second session.

In what was a fitting tribute to the event’s naming rights sponsor, Ford Mustangs occupied the top six positions outright in both sessions, while Webster was the clear favourite in the Pro-Am class.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia

Oscar Targett will start the opening race of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Australia Series season on pole, after edging out Hamish Fitzsimmons in Qualifying today.

The young Grove Racing star set his fastest time on the sixth lap of the session and couldn’t be beaten as Fitzsimmons recorded his fastest time on his 10th and final lap.

Two tenths ended up separating the pole sitter and the practice two session winner at the end of qualifying, while Clay Osborn and Conor Somers secured spots on the second row.

Just missing out on a second row start for tomorrow’s first race were a quarter of drivers in Brock Gilchrist, Jake Santalucia, Caleb Sumich and Tyler Greenbury who were all within three tenths of Somers.

Qualifying highest out of the Pro-Am drivers was Ramu Farrell, who ended up 11th overall, while Class B leader Bradley Carr qualified in P13.

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia

Reigning champion Tony D’Alberto has topped the timesheets in category’s first day after claiming the fastest time in Practice two.

In his second last lap of the session, the Wall Racing star posted a 1:35.9870 and ended up just over three tenths faster than fellow Honda Civic R FL5 driver Brad Harris.

While there was a comfortable gap of three tenths between D’Alberto and Harris at the end of the session, the same amount of time separated Harris and the next two best placed drivers in Josh Buchan and Zac Soutar.

Less than a tenth off the Audi RS3 of Soutar in fifth place was Clay Richards in his CUPRA Leon, whose best time was only a tenth of Dylan O’Keefe in fifth.

Four of the top five were in the thick of the action earlier in the day for the first practice session, only this time, it was Soutar on top – having gone faster than D’Alberto by just seven hundredths.

Richards was the next best, a further three tenths off, while Buchan and Dylan O’Keefe rounded out the session’s top five.

Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS

The GT World Challenge is set up for an absolute cracker after the second practice session proved highly entertaining during the one-hour of action.

Chaz Mostert guided the highly anticipated Arise Racing Gerrary 296 GT3 to the fastest time in the session and the day overall.

However, while he may have topped the final session – he ended up only two hundredths of a second faster than Tigani Motorsport’s Jayden Ojeda, whose best lap time was only three hundredths faster than the second Ferrari of Jaxon Evans and Elliot Schutte.

Going fastest for the day in the Am class was Garth Walden and Martin Sheargold in the RAM Motorsport / GWR Australia Mercedes AMG GT3.

Earlier in the day, Will Brown and Brad Schumacher topped the charts by seven tenths of a second over Alex Peroni and Mark Rosser with a time of 1:34.9456 – the wet track once again playing a factor.

Monochrome GT4 Australia Series

Ryder Quinn ended the first day of the Monochrome GT4 Series’ first round as a solo series on top after going fastest overall across both practice sessions.

Quinn bucked the trend of drivers getting their best lap times in the afternoon as his fastest time of 1:35.2659 remained unbeaten for the day.

The Queenslander’s last lap of the session proved so good, that the next best driver in George Miedecke was more than half a second off.

In the afternoon session, Nathan Morcom steered the Method Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4 to the fastest time, which was just one hundredth of a second off Quinn’s session one time.

The youngster was also in the running for the second session as he put the Thunder Buddies Racing BMW M4 second on the timesheets. Highlighting the closeness of the competition, the second Method Motorsport McLaren of Marcos Flack/Tom Haymen placed third for the session – just three hundredths of a second off the BMW.

First Focus Radical Cup Australia 

Category great Peter Paddon was a dominant force today, topping the timesheets in both sessions.

Although he went fastest on both occasions, it was still extremely close as the multiple-time champion edged out the duel entry of Peter Clare and Josh Hunt by one second in the first session, before just beating Cooper Cutts in the second session.

Paddon was highly consistent throughout the day as both his fastest lap times were within one hundredth of a second of each other – his final lap in session two proving fastest overall.

Cutts just missed out on the session’s fastest time by just seven hundredths of a second; Ash Samadi posted the third fastest time of the day, while also going fastest among the Amateurs.
