Motorsport Australia Media Awards now open

Nominations for the 2024 Motorsport Australia Media Awards are now being accepted.
 
There are a mix of categories for media professionals to apply for, with another year of strong nominations accepted from those working hard to deliver content from across the sport.
 
In 2024, Motorsport Australia will award winners in the following categories at the annual gala awards dinner in early 2025:
 
Photographer of the Year
Photograph of the Year
Journalist of the Year
Best use of Digital Media
Best Breaking News Story of the Year

 
Criteria for each category is also available as part of the application process to assist media in their applications.

The awards are open to all working media in the motorsport industry, including but not limited to those accredited with Motorsport Australia.
 
All media are encouraged to apply and can nominate via motorsport.org.au/awards.
  
The 2024 Motorsport Australia Media Awards nominations are now open, closing on Thursday 19 December.


 

Criteria for the 2024 Motorsport Australia Media Awards


Photographer of the Year
• A submission of 3-5 photos. No more than five (5) photos may be submitted
• Photos should include a mix of styles for the judges to include (eg. on stage/track, crowd, portrait, news (action) photographs)
• All photos should have limited editing/filtering
• All photos must be from Motorsport Australia events in the 2023 calendar year (including Australian Grand Prix)
 
Photograph of the Year
• Each photographer may submit a maximum of two (2) photos for this category. It is up to the photographer to select those two photos and their style
• All photos should have limited editing/filtering
• All photos must be from Motorsport Australia events in the 2023 calendar year (including the Australian Grand Prix)
 
Journalist of the Year
• Each journalist may submit up to four (4) news/feature items for considerations
• Submission should include links to or copies of pieces of content as published in media outlets during the 2023 calendar year
• Submissions should include a mix of breaking news and a minimum of one (1) feature story
• Journalists must be based in Australia and/or be covering Australian motorsport events, drivers and issues
 
Best Use of Digital Media
• A broader category, submissions should outline how nominators are a strong performer in the digital space
• Examples include, but not limited to, podcasts, digital platforms (eg. news sites with various media offerings)
• Nominations should include details about digital reach and impact (including statistics) as well as content provided across each platform
• For the benefit of doubt, Digital Media includes news websites, individual podcasts, individual social media campaigns, digital video series/features
• Nominators must be based in Australia and/or be covering Australian motorsport events, drivers and issues
 
Best Breaking News Story of the Year
• Nominators may submit a maximum of two (2) breaking news stories for consideration
• Each breaking news story nominated will be considered on its impact on the Australian motorsport landscape and the significance of the story in setting the news agenda at the time it was published
• Judges will also consider the impact of the story on the wider sporting landscape and its reach, along with its ability to generate significant follow up coverage from other outlets
