Empower program applications open for SpeedSeries

Motorsport Australia has opened applications for the 2026 SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries (Level 1).

The SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries, offers young women aged 18-22 a hands-on opportunity to gain motorsport work experience at the 2026 Shannons SpeedSeries

In partnership with SRO Motorsports Australia and Motorsport Australia, the SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries will immerse participants in the fast-paced world of professional motorsport.

The FIA Girls on Track – SRO Empower Program will run at all six Shannons SpeedSeries events including at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, The Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, Queensland Raceway and Sandown International Raceway, offering invaluable behind-the-scenes access and insights into a world-class motorsport event.

Four young women will be selected for each event and will have the opportunity to experience a variety of roles rotating through corporate hospitality, motorsport media, category operations and event coordination positions.

Participants will gain experience across a variety of roles at a live motorsport event, including:

  • Event Accreditation – Assisting the SRO Accreditation Coordinator with managing and distributing accreditation for teams, stakeholders, and suppliers.
  • Event & Volunteer Operations – Supporting the SRO Event Manager and Motorsport Australia Officials Coordinator with -on-event preparations, race official support, and fan engagement initiatives.
  • Category Operations (GT3/GT4) – Working alongside the GT World Challenge Australia and Monochrome GT4 Australia Series Management, supporting series administration, compliance, and prize-giving ceremonies.
  • Hospitality – Focusing on team and guest relations, check-in, overseeing catering, and delivering a premium hospitality experience.
  • Media – Gaining behind-the-scenes experience with the Media team, potentially assisting with digital content creation, media accreditation and logistics, media centre management and social media engagement.
  • Sporting (Bonus, subject to workload) – Potential opportunity for a Race Control tour, offered on a case-by-case basis.

Motorsport Development Manager Charlie Barlow expressed her excitement in having the SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries return in 2026.

“Programs like SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries provides hands-on experience in a professional environment and facilitates exposure to roles that are often unseen,” Barlow said.

“Motorsport Australia is proud to continue working with SRO Motorsports Australia to deliver meaningful opportunities across SpeedSeries in what is expected to be one of the biggest years to date for the category.”

SRO Head of Business Development Abi Hay outlined the program will have great benefits for successful applicants.

“The SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries offers participants invaluable access to the inner workings of a major motorsport series,” Hay said.

“From a range of operational roles, the experiences on offer are broad, immersive and practical.

“We’ve seen how impactful this program can be for career development. The opportunities for learning and growth are massive.”

Each participant will work across four days per event, from setup day through the race weekend, maximising their learning and exposure to all aspects of event execution.

  • Round 1: Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, VIC – 26-29 March
  • Round 2: Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, SA – 7-10 May
  • Round 3: Queensland Raceway, QLD – 11-14 June
  • Round 4: Hidden Valley Raceway, NT – 23-26 July
  • Round 5: Sydney Motorsport Park, NSW – 17-20 September
  • Round 6: Sandown Raceway, VIC – 29 Oct – 1 November

The FIA Girls on Track – SRO Empower program is open to young women living in the same state where the event is being held. This allows applicants in each state an equal opportunity to participate in this program without incurring travel costs.

Entry for these exclusive opportunities are limited, with selections based on the quality of submissions.

To apply, applicants must submit a resume and cover letter via the application form, obtain a Motorsport Australia Officials Licence and complete the General Officials Training Module.

Applications for the 2026 SRO Empower Program at Shannons SpeedSeries Level 1 close on 20 February.
