European Le Mans Series – Barcelona
Australian drivers have made a strong start to the 2026 European Le Mans Series season, with a class win and multiple top-ten finishes at the 4 Hours of Barcelona.
Tom Sargent led the charge in the LMGT3 class, claiming victory with Proton Competition in an impressive opening-round performance. The result saw Sargent leave Spain as an early championship contender, further adding to his growing reputation in European endurance racing alongside teammates Matthew Kurzejewski and Richard Lietz.
Fellow Australian Garnet Patterson also stood on the podium, finishing second in LMGT3 with United Autosports.

In the LMP2 ranks, Jack Doohan delivered a consistent drive to secure seventh in class with Nielsen Racing, and led the race with 11 laps to go.
Fighting for the podium on the last lap, Doohan’s car had slowed due to a broken wishbone, causing the Nielsen Racing #24 to lose multiple positions by the chequered flag. In the end, Doohan and company would settle for 7th in the LMP2 and Outright fields.

Griffin Peebles was also in the mix in LMP2, showing competitive pace throughout the race and challenging for the lead of the race.
Running within the lead group at various stages, the United Autosports entry ultimately finished on the bottom step of the podium in what was a positive race for the team after disappointing earlier sessions on the weekend.

James Allen was unable to see the track in the LMP2 Pro-Am class, as Nielsen Racing teammate Kriton Lentoudis was involved in an opening lap incident, bringing the team’s session to a premature end.
With one round complete, Australia’s presence in the ELMS paddock is already being felt, highlighted by Sargent’s victory and Patterson’s podium, while others banked important early-season results.
The next round will be the 4 Hours of Le Castellet in France on Sunday 3 May.
FIA World Rally Championship – Croatia
Taylor Gill produced a composed and consistent drive at Rally Croatia 2026, finishing ninth in the WRC2 class, and 12th overall, aboard his Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.
The Australian, co-driven by Daniel Brkić, ended the rally just under five minutes behind WRC2 winner Yohan Rossel after a relatively trouble-free run across the event’s demanding asphalt stages.
Gill avoided major errors on Croatia’s notoriously changeable roads that even caught out the leading Rally1 runners. The Australians delivering steady mid-pack stage times to secure valuable championship points, despite dealing with puncture issues on the first day of action.

Backing up his earlier fourth-place finish in Sweden, the result underlined Gill’s growing maturity establishing himself in the highly competitive WRC2 category, while Brkić continues to provide a focused presence calling the pacenotes.
The pair is now in preparation to compete at Rally Finland in late-June.
GT World Challenge Europe – Paul Ricard
Jayden Kelly and the Greystone GT team’s performance at the Circuit Paul Ricard was short-lived following an incident on the opening lap of the six-hour session.
It brought to a sudden end a promising weekend, after the trio of Kelly, Tomas Pinto and Josh Rattican displayed good pace in their Free Practice session.
The #44 McLaren then followed it up to secure the 12th-fastest time in the first qualifying, 10th in the second, and 2nd in the third to place Kelly on the 13th row of the grid.

It was a slightly more positive result for Calan Williams and the Oman Racing by Century Motorsport team.
Alongside co-drivers Ahmad Al Harthy and Javier Sagrera, the Williams competed in the Bronze Cup category, finishing the main race just outside the podium in sixth.
Williams and the team began the session 47th on the grid, almost halving their outright position by the chequered flag – finishing 29th outright after 174 laps.

The next round of the GT World Challenge Europe heads to Brands Hatch from 2-3 May.
GT4 European Series – Paul Ricard
Lachlan Evennett has podiumed in his Pro class debut in Race 1 of the European GT4 Series at Circuit Paul Ricard.
Lachlan and his co-driver Mees Houbem came away with a second-place finish following a strong session in the opening race.
Speedy Motorsport’s Houben handed across to Evennett from sixth place and the Australian charged into the podium places before hunting down Alex Papadopulos and making a fine pass for second into turn one late on.

The pair then finished P6 in Race 2, before receiving a 10-second post-race penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Nevertheless, it was a great debut for the 18-year-old from Townsville as he prepares for Round 2 at Monza from 29-31 May.
