Drivers brace tricky conditions at GT Festival Queensland

The LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Queensland delivered another huge weekend for the Shannons SpeedSeries, with Queensland Raceway hosting a mix of challenging weather and breakthrough victories across five categories as part of the third round of the season.

Saturday’s schedule was largely influenced by wet and unpredictable conditions, requiring drivers to be at their technical best.

In GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Will Davison and Renee Gracie secured a popular maiden victory aboard their #181 Ferrari 296 GT3, while Oscar Targett and Justin Tigani finished second ahead in the #56 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO beating out teammates Brendon Leitch and Sergio Pires.

Monochrome GT4 Australia also produced a memorable first night race at Queensland Raceway, where Daniel Frougas and Chris White claimed a breakthrough Silver Cup victory in the GWR Australia Toyota Supra EVO 2.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge wrapped up its third round with Lincoln Taylor starring across Saturday’s races, while Josh Anderson and the pairing of Chris Reindler and Bryce Moore proved the benchmarks in Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia and Radical Cup Australia respectively.

Sunday saw the more winners crowned and several championship battles firm heading into the back-end of the season.

Leitch and Pires converted strong pace into victory in GT World Challenge Australia’s second race, capitalising on misfortune for championship leaders Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher who encountered a door latch problem to move to the top of the standings.

Monochrome GT4 Australia saw Tom Hayman and Jett Murray take victory for Method Motorsport, while debutant Oli Wickham enjoyed a standout weekend by securing his maiden Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia win.

Radical Cup Australia on Sunday once again belonged to Reindler and Moore, who completed a clean sweep for the round despite a race laden with late retirements.

The LIQUI MOLY GT Festival Queensland precedes the next round of the 2026 Shannons SpeedSeries season, as attention now shifts to Hidden Valley Raceway and the inaugural GT Festival Darwin next month from 24-26 July.
