Operation Flinders Foundation has announced a major new partnership for the Flinders to Fleurieu Rally, with MGA Insurance Group joining as Major Sponsor to help drive support for vulnerable South Australian young people.
To be known as the Operation Flinders to Fleurieu Rally in 2026 from 20-25 September, the event will bring competitors, visitors, businesses and tourism opportunities to communities across the state, while raising vital funds for Operation Flinders and the young people it supports.
The event will travel through regions that are not only iconic South Australian destinations, but also home to many of the young people who participate in Operation Flinders programs, including communities in and around Quorn, Clare and Victor Harbor.
MGA Insurance Group has been a long-term supporter of Operation Flinders and has strengthened that commitment through its Major Sponsorship of the Flinders to Fleurieu Rally.
MGA Insurance Group Chairman John George OAM said the organisation was proud to support both the event and the Foundation’s life-changing work.
“At MGA, we believe strongly in supporting initiatives that create lasting positive outcomes within the communities we serve,” Mr George said.
“Our partnership with the Flinders to Fleurieu Rally and Operation Flinders reflects a shared commitment to making a genuine difference in the lives of young Australians. We are proud to support an event that will help create opportunities for young people across South Australia while celebrating the regions that make our state unique.”
The Flinders to Fleurieu Rally focuses on 2WD and 4WD Classic Rally Cars, and will showcase some of the most stunning locations and scenery in the world.
The Flinders to Fleurieu Rally, capped at 100 vehicles, starts on a Sunday morning in the Flinders Ranges and concludes in Fleurieu six days later.
The rally features daylight, closed road special stages, fully route charted.
The total competitive distance for the event is expected to be 900km, with roughly another 800km of transport.
Event Director Tania Wearing said partnering with Operation Flinders gives the rally a purpose beyond motorsport.
“The Flinders to Fleurieu Rally is much more than a motorsport event; it is a unique opportunity to showcase South Australia, strengthen regional communities and deliver significant economic benefits across the 15 council areas involved,” Ms Wearing said.
“I am incredibly proud to align the event with a highly respected South Australian company such as MGA Insurance Group, whose commitment to supporting communities and regional Australia mirrors our own values”.
The Flinders to Fleurieu Rally is expected to attract competitors and visitors from across Australia, delivering economic benefits to regional communities while helping create lasting change for South Australian young people.
For more than 35 years, Operation Flinders has helped transform the lives of thousands of young people through its remote outback adventure therapy and youth development programs, supporting those facing challenges to build resilience, confidence and a stronger sense of purpose.
Operation Flinders Chair, South Australian Police Commissioner Grant Stevens, welcomed the partnership and said the rally was an exciting opportunity to promote the Foundation’s work and support the life-changing programs we run for young people.
“This is a fantastic partnership that not only supports Operation Flinders and the young people we work with, but also shines a spotlight on regional South Australia. With the support of MGA Insurance Group, we look forward to having an outstanding outcome,” Mr Stevens said.
“The rally will bring people, investment and visitors into communities that are incredibly important to our organisation. Many of the young people who participate in our programs come from regional centres such as Quorn, Clare and Victor Harbor, making this event particularly meaningful.”
“Operation Flinders changes lives. Every year, we see young people overcome significant challenges and build resilience, connection and purpose. Partnerships like this help ensure we can continue delivering those outcomes for years to come.”
