Formula 1 – Silverstone

Oscar Piastri showed tremendous resilience during a challenging British Grand Prix at Silverstone, recovering from opening-lap contact to reach the finish in 11th place.

The Australian started from eighth on the grid and was caught in a tight battle through the opening corners, sustaining damage after being squeezed between rival cars and completing an early pit stop for a set of hard tyres and a new front wing.

With the compromised car affecting its performance, Piastri fought hard throughout the 52-lap race, spending much of the afternoon in the midfield and narrowly missing out on a points finish.

McLaren had shown strong pace earlier in the weekend, but another determined drive from the 25-year-old Australian maximised the package available to him.

Although Silverstone didn’t deliver the result Piastri was hoping for, his consistency in finishing races and extracting the most from difficult circumstances continues to underline his maturity in Formula 1.

McLaren will now turn its attention to the next round at Spa-Francorchamps, one of Piastri’s favourite and best tracks, where the team will look to return to the front of the field from 17-19 July.

Formula 3 – Silverstone

James Wharton showed more encouraging promise during the FIA Formula 3 Championship’s visit to Silverstone for PREMA Racing at the British Grand Prix.

The Victorian qualified ninth after a tightly contested session prior to racing, finishing less than four-tenths off pole position in an intense qualifying session.

That result placed Wharton on the second row of the reversed-grid Sprint Race, where he battled inside the top 10 throughout the 18-lap contest.

Despite fierce competition, the Australian brought his PREMA machine home in 10th place.

Wharton backed up his Sprint Race performance with another composed drive in Sunday’s Feature Race. Starting from ninth, he remained in the midfield, crossing the line in 11th after 21 laps – finishing just over five seconds behind the race winner.

Having claimed a Sprint Race victory in Barcelona, the 19-year-old is building momentum with PREMA Racing heading into the second half of the Championship season.

Wharton and the Formula 3 grid head to the Belgium Grand Prix next from 17–19 July.

Thailand Super Series – Bangsaen

Australia’s Daniel Bilski will look to bounce back in the third round of the Thailand Super Series, after some unfortunate results in Bangsaen.

Driving the #27 B-Quik Absolute Racing for Audi Sport Asia with teammate Sathapond Veerachure, Bilski showed promising signs early clocking the second-fastest lap time in Qualifying 1 – the fastest time in the GT3 Am class.

The pair finished seventh in Qualifying 2, before undertaking their two race sessions for the round.

The duo was unable to translate the same success over into Race 1 and 2, withdrawing from the first race after 32 laps and then again after 30 laps in the second race.

Both will aim for better success in Round 3 at the Sepang International Circuit in Sepang, Malaysia, scheduled for August 21–23.

Porsche Carrera Cup Asia – Bangsaen

Seth Gilmore and Dale Wood were another batch of Australians to compete on the streets of Bangsaen over the weekend for Race 7 and Race 8 during Round 4 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season.

A strong qualifying from Qualifying placed Gilmore ninth on the grid to start the first race of the weekend, several cars ahead of Wood who had work to do starting back from 22nd.

Porsche Centre Adelaide’s Gilmore was proficient in gaining places, completing the 14-lap session in seventh, meanwhile Wood laboured at the back of the pack before ultimately receiving a DNF after an incident with Kiwi Chris van der Drift.

While Marcus Amand made it two wins from the weekend, Gilmore fell eight laps off the pace to finish in 19th, as well as Wood, who climbed three spots from 24th to 21st to conclude the weekend.

The 23rd season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia heads to Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia for three races, running from 22-23 August.

European Le Mans Series – Imola

Australia was well represented at the European Le Mans Series’ 4 Hours of Imola, with five drivers tackling the demanding Italian endurance classic across the LMP2 and LMP2 Pro/Am classes.

After arriving at Imola as the championship leaders, the trio battled strongly throughout the four-hour contest to finish second overall after 126 laps, collecting another valuable podium that keeps them firmly in the title fight.

Fellow Australian James Allen also enjoyed a competitive outing in the Nielsen Racing LMP2 Pro/Am entry. Teaming up with Alex Quinn and Kriton Lentoudis, Allen guided the No. 27 Oreca to 11th in the LMP2 Pro/Am class and 20th outright.

The trio remained in contention throughout the race before taking the chequered flag in fifth in class and eighth overall, continuing Doohan’s adaptation to endurance racing from Formula 1.

The Proton Competition No. 75 crew featuring Tom Sargent, Matthew Kurzejewski and Richard Lietz secured fourth in LMGT3 after a consistent run, while Garnet Patterson teamed with Michael Birch and Wayne Boyd in the United Autosport LMGT3 entry to finish 12th in class.

Imola marked another strong weekend for the Australians ahead of Round 4 at Spa-Francorchamps on 21–23 August.

IndyCar – Ohio

Will Power delivered another competitive performance in the NTT IndyCar Series by converting a strong qualifying effort into a top-six finish at the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The veteran Australian was one of the pace-setters throughout the weekend, topping the opening practice session before qualifying third for the 90-lap race, narrowly missing out on the front row.

Starting from the second row, Power briefly lost ground in the opening laps after being forced wide in the opening corners, but quickly settled into a strong rhythm.

The Andretti Global driver climbed back through the field with a combination of consistent pace and clean pit stops, running inside the top five during the middle stages of the race.

As the race entered its closing stages, traffic made it difficult for Power to regain fifth place, but he continued to push and ultimately crossed the line in sixth.

The result marked his 204th career IndyCar top-10 finish and added another solid points haul to his 2026 campaign.

Power’s result came in a race won by Pato O’Ward, who led an Arrow McLaren one-two finish ahead of Christian Lundgaard, while Andretti Global teammate Kyle Kirkwood completed the podium in third.

Next up for Power will be the Synk 275 at Nashville Superspeedway from 18–19 July.

Indy NXT

Australian drivers Jack Beeton, Lochie Hughes and Nicolas Stati all produced encouraging performances during the Indy NXT by Firestone double-header at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, with Beeton claiming a pair of podium finishes to headline the weekend.

Beeton enjoyed the best weekend of his young Indy NXT career. The HMD Motorsports rookie qualified third for Race 1 and converted that into a series podium with third place as his team locked out the top four finishing positions. He backed it up in Race 2 by qualifying third once again before driving to a career-best second-place finish, capping a breakthrough weekend with back-to-back podiums.

Hughes also added valuable championship points across the double-header. The Andretti Global driver qualified seventh for Race 1 and raced to fifth place before lining up 11th for Race 2. Hughes recovered strongly through the field in Sunday’s race, climbing to 10th to continue his consistent campaign despite starting outside the top 10.

Stati continued to gain valuable experience in his debut season, competing in both races for Cusick Morgan Motorsports. The Australian qualified 20th and 18th respectively before falling to 23rd in Race 1 and improving to 17th in Race 2, continuing his steady development in the competitive category.

Proudford-Nalder brought the car home in 19th for the AKM Motorsport crew, whereas an early retirement after nine laps brought the middle race session to an early close for Killion, but bounced back in style in Race 3.

Killion helped complete a one-two finish for US Racing in Race 3, taking home a P2, after a disappointing end to Race 2 following contact with another driver. Killion stated he was happy with the result in Race 3 and pleased overall with his outing for the weekend.

An Australian representative, Vinci also boasts Hungarian heritage and made sure to put his best foot forward over the three race sessions.

Vinci qualified 13th and 11th in both qualifying sessions to set himself in the middle of the field. He then fell one spot out of the points in Race 1, settling for 11th in the session and putting the blueprint down for an overall positive round.

Vinci then found his groove, conducting several overtakes in Race 2 and rallying late to finish the session in P6. He further consolidated his performance for the round in Race 3, adding a P7 to the ledger and accumulating more points in the process.

He won’t have to wait long to get back in the season, as he heads to Zandvoort this weekend for the third-final round of the season.
