The Repco Supercars Championship remains in the country’s northern reaches this weekend for the NTI Townsville 500, with the streets of Reid Park to host a pivotal round in the lead-up to this year’s Finals Series.

Five rounds, including two Enduros, remain before the Finals field starts to take shape – meaning each point will become ever so more valuable as the championship’s contenders look to strengthen their positions.

Three races across the weekend also present a significant opportunity for drivers to either build momentum, or lose ground, in the title fight this year.

Championship leader Broc Feeney arrives in North Queensland with the advantage, but the chasing pack remains firmly within striking distance.

Tickford’s Cam Waters sits in third after ending his winless start to the season in style at Darwin, while Kai Allen continued his breakout sophomore campaign with a dominant victory at Hidden Valley to climb into fifth in the standings.

Allen looms as one of the biggest stories of the weekend.

The 21-year-old claimed his second victory of the 2026 season in Darwin, and has quickly established himself as a genuine championship contender with Grove Racing.

Allen endured a difficult weekend at Reid Park in 2025, making this year’s visit an important test of his title credentials.

Another strong result would further cement Grove Racing’s position, with the contributions from teammate Matt Payne, at the top of the teams’ championship and reinforce the South Australian as one of the season’s rising stars.

Waters also returns to one of his happiest hunting grounds. A three-time Townsville winner, the Tickford Racing driver arrives full of confidence after securing the Darwin Triple Crown.

Away from the circuit, Townsville once again delivers one of the biggest fan festivals on the Supercars calendar.

Following Wednesday’s transporter parade, Track to Town returned on Thursday, with all 26 Supercars making the trip into Palmer Street before an all-driver signing session at Tiny Mountain Brewer.

Summernats Goes Troppo headlines Friday night’s entertainment before Professional Bull Riders Australia takes centre stage on Saturday evening.

Street Machine Tough Car Shows, an expanded Australian Defence Force display and a performance from country artist Tori Darke complete a packed weekend program.

On-track action begins with practice on Friday morning before three races across Friday, Saturday and Sunday promise another thrilling chapter in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship story.
