Broc Feeney has claimed the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship Sprint Cup in the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 at Queensland Raceway.
Matt Payne entered the weekend with a 118-point championship lead and strengthened his position with a double pole in Saturday qualifying.
The Kiwi eclipsed Brodie Kostecki in the final stages of both sessions, including a remarkable second pole-setting lap on used Super Soft tyres.
Kostecki lined up second for both races, while Will Brown qualified fourth and third as he made an immediate return to the front after his Triple Eight team resolved an air restrictor issue that had hampered his season.
Kostecki converted his front-row start into victory in Saturday’s opening race, out-dragging Payne at the start and reclaiming the lead after the compulsory pit stops.
Payne finished second, while Brown celebrated his first podium since New Zealand in April.
Brown then went one better in Race 27, ending a year-long winless streak with a thrilling victory.
The Queenslander fought through a late-race Safety Car restart to pass Kai Allen at Turn 2 and secure his 13th career win, with Kostecki second and Broc Feeney third.
Sunday’s Race 28 produced the weekend’s biggest twist.
Payne’s hopes of securing the Sprint Cup ended when an electrical problem forced him into retirement, opening the door for Feeney.
The Queenslander capitalised in style, taking victory and overturning his 110-point deficit to Payne to claim the Sprint Cup by 30 points.
Kostecki finished second in Race 28 to cap a standout weekend, while Brown completed the podium and added another strong result to his impressive Ipswich campaign.
Feeney, Payne, Kostecki and Cam Waters have now all mathematically secured their places in the Supercars Finals, with Feeney also earning 25 bonus points for the Finals after his Sprint Cup triumph.
Attention now turns to endurance racing, with the Repco Supercars Championship heading to South Australia for the AirTouch 500 at The Bend Motorsport Park from 11-13 September, which will mark the start of the Ryco Enduro Cup.
