Wayne Oliver has demonstrated exceptional initiative and dedication to his fellow officials, earning recognition as the Supercheap Auto Official Superstar in August for his outstanding contribution at the inaugural GT Festival Hidden Valley event in Darwin.
With the event being held at the venue for the first time, the team faced a number of unexpected challenges, including the unavailability of several essential pieces of equipment.
Rather than allowing these obstacles to affect the running of the event, Wayne immediately took action. He contacted personnel from the circuit and other organisations to source and borrow the equipment required, ensuring the event could continue safely and successfully.
His resourcefulness and determination were critical in overcoming the challenges faced by the officiating team.
South Australia & Northern Territory Officials Chair and nominator Janelle Holding outlined Wayne’s ability to remain calm under pressure and find practical solutions is one of his greatest strengths.
“When problems arise, he never hesitates to step in and help, using his extensive knowledge and experience to support those around him,” Holding said.
“He also demonstrates excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills. His professionalism, reliability and positive attitude have earned him the respect of fellow officials and competitors alike.
“Throughout the Darwin event, Wayne consistently put the needs of the event and his fellow volunteers ahead of his own.
“His willingness to go the extra mile helped ensure the event was delivered safely and efficiently despite the unexpected difficulties.”
