IMSA SportsCar Championship – Road Atlanta
Matt Campbell capped off the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a landmark victory at Motul Petit Le Mans, helping Porsche Penske Motorsport secure its first overall win at the iconic Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta event with the No. 6 Porsche 963.
Sharing the car with Laurens Vanthoor and Kevin Estre, Campbell played a crucial role in a dramatic 10-hour race that was heavily affected by changing weather conditions, 16 full-course cautions and a 27-minute stoppage for nearby lightning.
The No. 6 Porsche came into its own during the second half of the race, with the Penske-prepared entry moving into contention for the overall victory.
Vanthoor ultimately made the decisive move for the lead with 49 minutes remaining, passing the No. 31 Cadillac before holding off a charging BMW in the closing stages to take victory by just 1.205 seconds.
The result marked Campbell’s 14th IMSA victory and his third win at Motul Petit Le Mans, although it was his first overall victory at the prestigious endurance event.
The victory was particularly significant for Porsche, which had previously won the event overall in 2015 with a GT Le Mans-class Porsche 911 RSR, but had never claimed the overall crown with a prototype.
Porsche secured its fourth GTP class victory of the year, while Campbell added another major endurance racing achievement to his résumé. Campbell also transfers over to Ford for next season.
Formula 1 – Sepang

Oscar Piastri battled through a chaotic and rain-affected Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia to finish sixth at the Sepang International Circuit, securing eight valuable championship points for McLaren.
The Australian faced a challenging start to the race after McLaren abandoned its planned dry-tyre strategy shortly before the start, leaving Piastri to begin from the pit lane on intermediate tyres as heavy rain affected the circuit.
The difficult conditions created a highly unpredictable race, with multiple tyre strategies, Safety Car periods and changing track conditions shaping the order.
Piastri steadily worked his way through the field as the circuit dried, maintaining his position inside the top six during the closing stages.
He ultimately crossed the line sixth, 9.454 seconds behind race winner Max Verstappen, while finishing ahead of McLaren teammate Lando Norris in ninth.
It also marked his first F1 race at Sepang, with the Australian among the drivers tackling the circuit for the first time following its return to the calendar.
Piastri will return to action at the Singapore Grand Prix, held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from 9-11 October.
GT World Challenge Asia – Beijing

Australian pairing Andrew MacPherson and Ben Porter enjoyed a strong weekend in the latest GT World Challenge Asia round in Beijing, competing aboard the #51 AMAC Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) EVO.
The duo showed strong pace from the outset, finishing 15th overall and first in the Am class in Practice before carrying that form into Qualifying 1.
MacPherson and Porter secured eighth overall and first in Am, putting the Porsche in a strong position for the opening race.
Qualifying 2 proved more challenging, with the pair recording 19th overall and fourth in Am.
Race 1 was a difficult outing, with the #51 Porsche ultimately recorded as not classified (NC) after completing 15 laps.
The team responded strongly in the second race, however, with MacPherson and Porter producing a much-improved performance to climb through the field.
They crossed the line eighth overall and first in the Am class, securing a class victory for AMAC Motorsport and providing a strong conclusion to their Beijing campaign.
MacPherson and Porter will return for the GT World Challenge Asia season finale at Shanghai International Circuit from 30 October-1 November, where they will look to finish the season on a high after their Am class victory in Beijing.
WRC – Sardegna

Australian pairing Martin Grigg and co-driver Liam Dunn completed Rally Italia Sardegna, the final round of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship, finishing 41st overall in their Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.
The event provided a demanding test for the crew, with Sardinia’s rough and abrasive gravel stages creating a significant challenge across the 17-stage, 307-kilometre rally.
Grigg and Dunn, competing in the #62 TEAM ARMIN SCHWARZ DRIVING EXPERIENCE
car, battled through the event to reach the finish and secure a classified result against a strong international field.
Their Toyota featured prominently in the Rally2 order throughout the weekend, with the pair continuing despite time losses, incidents namely on SS1 and SS7, and penalties throughout the rally.
Official FIA results listed Grigg and Dunn among the classified finishers.
