Entries are now open for the 2026 Motorsport Australia National Supersprint Championship, with competitors set to battle for national honours at Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania on 13 September.

Hosted by the Light Car Club of Tasmania, the one-day championship event will bring together up to 80 competitors across a broad range of eligible speed event classes, with the driver recording the fastest lap ultimately crowned the 2026 Motorsport Australia National Supersprint Champion.

Located near Launceston, Symmons Plains Raceway provides a 2.412-kilometre hot mix asphalt circuit that runs counterclockwise, offering competitors a challenging venue at which to chase outright and class honours.

Competitors will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the circuit during timed practice on Saturday 12 September, before championship competition gets underway on Sunday.

The Supersprint format will see cars compete in sessions with a maximum track density of 16 vehicles.

Competitors will be released onto the circuit in order of their fastest lap from the preceding session, with the starting order progressively determined by performance.

With the championship decided on outright lap time, every second will count throughout the event.

The fastest individual lap, including any applicable penalties, will determine the overall winner, while class positions will be decided using the same method.

Entries are limited to 80 competitors and cost $300, with entries accepted in order of receipt.

Competitors must hold a Motorsport Australia Speed licence or above and have competed in at least three Speed events during the previous 12 months.

Entries close at 5pm on Friday 4 September, giving competitors just over three weeks to secure their place on the national championship entry list.
