Formula 1 – Marina Bay
Oscar Piastri secured a hard-fought fifth-place finish at the Singapore Grand Prix, salvaging valuable Championship points for McLaren after an up and down weekend at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
The Australian was unable to finish Saturday’s sprint race following a last-lap collision with teammate Lando Norris.
Sunday offered a chance to regroup, with Piastri and Norris finishing fourth and fifth respectively, although the team lacked the pace to challenge the leading Red Bull and Ferrari cars.
Piastri’s race was complicated by a slow puncture that forced him to make a second pit stop, costing him valuable time. However, the 25-year-old remained composed and recovered to challenge for fourth place in the closing stages.
After Norris offered to ease up to help his teammate, Piastri pursued Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, ultimately overtaking the seven-time world champion on the final lap to secure fifth.
Piastri acknowledged that fifth place was likely the best result available, despite the frustration of the puncture, and highlighted the importance of collecting a solid haul of points for McLaren.
Max Verstappen claimed victory on his 250th Grand Prix start, completing a dominant weekend that also included two pole positions and a sprint race win.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished second, while Mercedes rookie and Championship favourite Kimi Antonelli secured third.
The result provides McLaren with useful points in the constructors’ championship, with Red Bull closing to within seven points of the reigning champions in the fight for third.
The next round of the 2026 Formula 1 season is the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, from 23-25 October.

Peebles started the four-hour race from pole position aboard the No. 22 United Autosports Oreca, setting the team up for a strong performance in the season finale.
Sharing the car with Grégoire Saucy and Ben Hanley, the Australian helped control the race from the front as United Autosports secured its second victory of the season.

Hanley brought the car home 12 seconds clear of the No. 18 IDEC Sport entry, sealing the LMP2 title for United Autosports for the first time since 2020.
The result also crowned Peebles, Saucy and Hanley as the 2026 LMP2 drivers’ champions following a successful campaign.
Sargent was also in contention for victory in Portugal, leading the LMGT3 field by a significant margin aboard the No. 75 Proton Competition Porsche.

However, the Championship outcome depended on the result of the No. 33 TF Sport Corvette, which needed to finish outside the top two for Sargent’s team to claim the title.
Despite sustained pressure from challengers in the closing stages, the Corvette held on to second place, finishing 21 seconds behind Sargent’s Porsche to secure the LMGT3 Championship.
