Brett Hayward has put on a master class at Bryant Park to take to out the second round of the 2019 CAMS Trydel Victorian Hill Climb Championship.

Behind the wheel of his self-designed open wheeler, Hayward came out of the blocks on fire, posting his eventual winning time of 50.86 seconds on just his first run of the day.

Incredibly, Hayward’s three remaining times for the event were enough to secure victory, further highlighting his dominant performance.

In second place, almost three seconds behind Hayward was Michael Bishop, his second run time of 53.68 enough to beat round one winner Mike Barker as both drivers were driving their own Hayward designed vehicles.

Barker’s day was much different compared to his performance at the Rob Roy last month as he was unable to break the 55-second mark, settling with his final run of 55.12 seconds.

Finishing just outside the top three was 2018 champion Garry Martin, who had recently been presented with silverware at the CAMS Victorian State Awards presented by Burson Auto Parts , Martin’s first time of 56 seconds his best for the day and earning him fourth outright.

However it was a day to forget for reigning champion, as he posted the third slowest time out of the 88 drivers on his second run, before missing his next run completely.

Rounding out the top five was David Mahon in his Ninja GA7, while the battle for the sixth was one of the closest of the weekend as Wim Janssen finished just four hundredths of a second ahead of Fred Galli.

The final driver to complete the popular Bryant Park hill climb in under one minute was Mirko Grbic in seventh place, the Mitsubishi Evo7 pilot also sealing the sports sedan class as well as being the fastest road car competing.
