Visser on top as Wood misses out

Monday 20 May, 2019
Caitlin Wood has had a mixed weekend in Belgium.

The second race of the historic W-series has been run and won in Belgium with Dutch driver Beitske Visser taking out victory.

It was a stellar performance from Visser, who jumped pole-sitter Jamie Chadwick at lights out and never gave up her lead to dominate the race and claim a well-deserved victory .

While Visser was enjoying setting the pace and running on her own, the battle for second was an entertaining one with Chadwick fighting with fellow Brit Alice Powell for the final four laps. >

The duo exchanged positions throughout their battle, but the race-one winner in Chadwick managed to edge out her compatriot late to finish the race in second place.

After starting just outside the top ten, Australian Caitlin Wood had a fantastic start to the race to gain a position straight off the line and eventually move into eighth place, capitalising on early incident in the race.

Unfortunately, she was unable to hold onto her position after a mistake late in the race saw her drop back down the field to 11th where she eventually finished out of the points.

It will be a three week break for competitors in the W-Series before it reaches its midway point next month with the third race to be held at Missano in Italy on 7-8 June.
