Motorsport Games to return in 2020

Tuesday 28 January, 2020
The FIA Motorsport Games will return in 2020.
The FIA Motorsport Games will return in 2020 after a successful inaugural event last year with Marseille in France announced as the host city, subject to World Motor Sport Council approval.

For this year’s edition, the FIA Grade 1 Circuit Paul Ricard will provide the racing venue, with the French Grand Prix track easily accessible for fans and teams from the picturesque city and the nearby international airport.

The news is the first major announcement on the Games since its first showing in Rome last year, as competitors from around the world represented their nations across six racing disciplines.

Team Australia entered the event with four participants in three events and finished the weekend in an impressive outright second place, falling just short to inaugural winners, Russia.

The green and gold campaign started strong with Cody Nikola Latkovski making history, as the teenager beat more than 30 competitors in the Digital Cup to win the Games’ first ever Gold Medal.

Not long after Latkovski’s momentous victory, Stephen and Brenton Grove managed to add a Bronze Medal to the tally, thanks to their brilliant efforts in the GT Cup. Formula 4 Cup competitor Luis Leeds came extremely close to a medal of his own.

In 2020, the three categories will once again form part of the Games with the Touring Car Cup, Drifting Cup and Karting Slalom Cup also returning to the second edition. A number of further categories are expected to be announced ahead of this year’s event in the coming months.
