Challenge Bathurst spots in demand

Wednesday 01 July, 2020
Entries for the Challenge Bathurst are now open.
Entries for the 2020 Challenge Bathurst are now open, with spots in the super sprint and regularity both available to those who have previously entered in the event.

Confirmed to take place over four days at the end of November, those who have previously entered will be given priority ahead of a general release should space remain available. Last year’s event was oversubscribed with a total of 435 entries.

The super sprint will begin proceedings on the Thursday and Friday, while the modern regularity takes place over the course of the weekend and interested participants are encouraged to register their place at their earliest convenience as spots fill up quickly.

Supporting the two main Challenge Bathurst categories will be the Z Car Club of Queensland and Porsche Club of New South Wales, as well as the Motorsport Australia GT Championship, which was the most recent inclusion into the bumper schedule.

The national GT competition was a welcome addition to the support bill, with a number of the country’s top GT drivers and Bathurst 12 Hour stars contesting in last year’s Challenge Bathurst.

With entries finally now open, Challenge Bathurst Event Director James O’Brien was excited about the popular event returning in 2020, despite being on a different date.

“Challenge Bathurst has become a tradition for an enormous array of competitors looking for a chance to tackle Mount Panorama, who might otherwise not have the opportunity,” O’Brien said.

“Despite all of the challenges faced this year, the demand for rare track time at Mount Panorama remains incredibly high – this November is going to be a great opportunity for competitors to spend a few days immersing themselves in challenging the Mountain.”

As a way to address safe COVID-19 practices, organisers have implemented a number of safety measures to keep in line with Motorsport Australia’s Return to Race guidelines, including all competitors completing a self-statement of vehicle prior to the event.

The 2020 Challenge Bathurst takes place at Mount Panorama on 26-29 November.
