A brand new race meeting will take over Winton Motor Raceway this month with the Harrop Freedom Four Hour Enduro to provide the ultimate test to circuit competitors.
A number of the regular state circuit championship categories have been invited to attend including Improved Production cars, BMW E30s, Saloon Cars, Hyundai Excels and Porsche 944s, while Toyota 86s and other invited cars will certainly add to the spectacle.
With entrants to get timed practice sessions, shootout qualifying and the race itself, the event is perfect for individuals wanting to get their motorsport fix and get much needed extra seat time in their cars.
Created by Raceworks Promotions’ Ben Schoots and Dean Lillie, the event is tailored specifically for local level competitors by competitors themselves with both drivers having more than 20 years of experience in endurance bitumen events such as the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
Ahead of the team’s first event, Schoots was looking forward to a good day out and believed the event will fill a hole in current motorsport.
“We identified a distinct lack of endurance style events accessible to grassroots motor racing competitors and decided to do something about it – and that’s when the ‘Harrop Freedom Four Hour Enduro Event’ was born,” Schoots said.
“The idea of the event is to keep it simple and give competitors ‘maximum bang for their buck’. It has already sparked a lot of interest from people and has the support of an amazing suite of sponsors.
“A big thanks to Harrop Engineering and with associate sponsors Traction Tyres and More Rowville, SpeedPro, Brypar, Penrite Oil, Winton Motor Raceway and of course Motorsport Australia for helping us get this event up.
“The idea is to annualise the event and expand to other tracks in Victoria and interstate in the future, but for the moment, we’re just excited to be getting it off the ground.”
Costing just $1400 per entry, which includes a garage and all track sessions, entries for the event remain open until 9pm AEST on Sunday 13 June with interested participants able to enter via the Motorsport Australia event entry page.
The Harrop Freedom Four Hour Enduro takes place at Winton Motor Raceway on Saturday 19 June.
