Trans Am to run round with Supercars

Friday 22 October, 2021
The National Trans Am Series will have two more rounds in 2021.
The National Trans Am Series has confirmed the remaining rounds of its 2021 season, with one of the four Supercars SuperNight events to host a round of the series.

Having already completed four rounds this year - one during Race Tasmania and the other three as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships - the series will now hold two more rounds to see off its inaugural season.

The penultimate round will take place during the Supercars SuperNight event at Sydney Motorsport Park on 19-21 November, before concluding during the six-day Bathurst 1000 just nine days later.

As it stands, Aaron Seton and his Ford Mustang currently leads the series by the smallest of margins with just four points separating he and Dodge driver Nathan Herne – both of whom won races during the last meeting at Eastern Creek.

Category Manager Liam Curkpatrick was thrilled the series was able to return.

“It’s exciting to have the National Trans Am Series restart after the frustrations of border closures,” Curkpatrick said.

“Our competitors have been very eager to get back out on track, and as soon as we were able to offer this opportunity at Sydney Motorsport Park, there were no complaints.

“To be back racing again will be exciting. We can’t wait for National Trans Am to resume ahead of what promises to be a tight conclusion to the title at Bathurst.”

The newly included round at Sydney Motorsport Park will run in the category’s usual format with practice and qualifying sessions to set up three 11-lap races over the course of the weekend.
