The busy 2023 FIA Girls on Track Australia calendar gets underway this month with the first event of the year to take place as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ season opener.

Held at Symmons Plains, the AWC Race Tasmania will see some of Australia’s best categories in action over three days of non-stop action.

Part of Race Tasmania’s off-track activations are FIA Girls on Track’s Pathways and Inspire programs – which will run all day on the first day of the event.

There are still limited spots available for girls to take part in either the Inspire or Pathways portion of the event.

The Inspire program will get the event underway from 9am as girls aged between 8 and 15 complete a number of activities and workshops giving them an insight into the sport.

Taking place in the afternoon from 2:15pm AEDT, the Pathways program is aimed at helping girls aged between 15 – 22 years old to pursue career pathways in the motorsport industry.

Less hands-on the Inspire program, FIA Girls on Track Pathways allows participants to hear from women who are currently involved in the sport and network with others from the industry.

In addition to learning about the industry, participants will be able to attend the event as well as get a behind the scenes look at a race team thanks to a private pit lane tour.

Attending the event will be FIA Girls on Track ambassador Nadine Armstrong, who is a leading journalist in the automotive industry, along with fellow ambassadors Romy Mayer and Emma Notarfrancesco.

“I’m excited to be heading back to Tasmania to deliver the Girls on Track program,” Armstrong said.

“I’ve been coming here since we started delivering the Inspire events in 2021. It’s been an absolute pleasure to see the schools get behind the program and the girls are engaged, asking questions and full of excitement.

“I’m looking forward to meeting all of the girls attending the Pathways event. Tasmania has a strong motorsport community, and I know that all of the ambassadors and champions are keen to support the girls who want to get involved.”
