Historic motor racing enthusiasts will be treated to yet another edition of the largest Sporting Car Club of South Australia (SCCSA) event of the year with a huge field gearing up for this weekend’s SCCSA Autosport All Historic.

The 42nd running of the event will take place at Mallala Motorsport Park and will see an outstanding field of 178 competitors spread across nine different categories in action.

First held in 1982, the event celebrates a wide range of historic racing cars which date back to almost an entire century and are accommodating to fans of all tastes.

Categories to take the track throughout the two days include the Regularity Open, Regularity Closed, Formula Ford, group M & O, Historic Sports Sedans, Group K & L, Historic Touring Cars, Group Q & R and SuperSprint.

In what is a busy schedule, Saturday will host a range of practice and qualifying sessions before hosting the start of a run of races that will flow through into Sunday.

However, before the action gets underway, the club will be hosting a street party at Wesleys Road in Mallala on Friday night from 5pm to 9pm, where attendees will be treated to a live band performance.

There will also be plenty of other off-track entertainment options to keep spectators busy, with drawing competitions, food vans and live music entertainment taking place throughout the whole weekend.

Tickets for the event are still available and can be purchased on the SCCSA website.

Sporting Car Club of SA Event organiser Melissa Rees believed the event was more than just a race meeting.

“This event is very popular amongst competitors and the town itself and there are plenty of people who get behind it,” Rees said.

“It’s a way for us to also give back to the community, while also doing something nice for charities as all proceeds are directly donated to Variety.

“In addition to the Friday night street party, there will also be a special demonstration from Historic Motorcycles and a Show & Shine on Sunday where there will be the special Charlie’s Choice competition, which will be judged by none other than Charlie Dixon.”

“A big thank you to the large number of sponsors we have on board for this event and we look forward to putting on a show for them, spectators and the whole Mallala community in what should be beautiful weather.”

The SCCSA Autosport All Historic takes place at Mallala Motorsport Park on 22-23 April.
