The long-awaited Shannons Trophy Series has finally arrived with six exciting categories to take over Sydney Motorsport Park during the next three days.

More than 150 entries across the six categories will be in action for the inaugural round of the Shannons Trophy Series, with plenty of notable names spread across each field.

Boasting the largest entry list for the event is the Yokohama Improved Production Nationals with a huge field of 49 cars to battle it out across eight races.

With the series to be split in half with three heats in store for each field, the category will wrap up with two finals on Sunday afternoon – one for the Under 2L cars and one for the Over 2L cars.

Headlining the category’s entry list are Adam Poole in his Holden Monaro and Mazda RX-7 driver Zak Hudson – both of whom have enjoyed lots of success in their respective state competitions, while the likes of James Augustine and Kurt Macready could also challenge.

The next largest field will belong to the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia Scholarship Series, which will have a plethora of young up and coming talents contesting its three races.

From Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia’s Oscar Targett and young rising star Alice Buckley to National Formula Ford Series leader Matthew Hillyer and Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series rookie-race winner Rylan Gray – there is plenty of ability throughout the grid.

There is also plenty of young national talent in the WORKHORSE Radical Cup Australia Series, with 2022 Ferrari Driver Academy Asia Pacific and Oceania Selection Program participants Zara Horn and Alex Gardner to make their debut in the national series this weekend.

The duo will be just a couple of many to look out for in the series’ two 50-minute races, with regulars Chris Perini, Peter Paddon, Elliott Schutte, Steven Champion, Ash Samadi and Jordan Oon among those to be in contention – the latter of which will be paired up with Horn – as well as S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championhip leader Joey Mawson.

Another popular national series to be on show this weekend will be the combined Mobil 1 Australian Production and Monochrome GT4 Series, where a solid 28-car grid will enjoy three one-hour races.

A mix of regular drivers and fresh faces will be competing in both classes on the weekend, as well as names familiar to motorsport fans around the country.

In the Monochrome GT4 Series, former Supercars driver and former Bathurst 1000 winner Paul Morris headlines the field and will be up against his super quick son, Nash Morris.

Joining the father-son duo will be the other notable names such as Shane Smollen, Renee Gracie and Tony Quinn.

In Australian Production cars, a collection of drivers are capable of producing some big results such as Jake Camilleri, George Miedecke, Coleby Cowham, Grant Sherrin, Cameron Crick and Iain Sherrin.

There will be another Camilleri racing elsewhere this weekend, with Jacob Camilleri to be contesting the MARC Cars Australia Series & Invited Cars.

Behind the wheel of a Marc Car, Jacob will be one 10 cars to be racing the category’s three races, with Eric Constantinidis, Adam Hargraves and Frank Mammarella some of the other big guns entered.

Rounding out the list of categories is the 14-car Circuit Excels grid, which sees a fairly even field tackle four 20 minutes races during the weekend.
