The small town of Hampton, New South Wales is preparing to host the annual Hornet Khanacross as part of the Motorsport Australia NSW State Khanacross Championship this weekend.
The multi-club event is organised by the Hills District Car Club and will be held at the Hills Motor Park this Sunday.
The event will feature a diverse range of purpose-built cars to battle it out in an ultimate display of skill and perception behind the wheel.
Over 20 competitors are expected to tackle eight competitive three-kilometre stages in attempt to post the fastest cumulative time and be crowned either the outright or respective class winner.
A total of four runs will take place in the morning session before closing out the day in a final sprint to the finish, with the final four runs taking place in the afternoon.
Entered competitors are split into their respective classes, which are determined by their car's engine size, while other special classes include the 4WD Production Cars, Motorkhana Specials and All-Terrain Vehicles.
Acting Event Secretary, Doug McCullough was looking forward to another thrilling weekend of Khanacross action at the Hills Motor Park.
“We have been running the event for over 10 years now, it's your typical short stage Khanacross event and is always a great weekend with the motorsport community," McCullough said.
“We like to make a weekend out of it, we start to light the fire the day before as the competitors are rolling up and put on a roast to keep everyone engaged.
“It looks like it's going to be a good entry list for this time of year, sometimes we get snow but sometimes we don’t, so we will have to wait and see.
“There is no talk of any snow blowing in yet, so fingers crossed but you never know what can happen.
For those interested in attending the event, spectators are more than welcome and will have access to a canteen throughout the event.
Camping is also available for both members and spectators who arrive early.
The Hornet Khanacross will take place at the Hills Motor Park in Hampton, New South Wales on 18 June.
