Motorsport enthusiasts will be treated to plenty of hill climb action when the MG Car Club of Queensland hosts the fourth round of the Mt Cotton Hillclimb Series this weekend.
Located 40 kilometres southeast of Brisbane, the popular Hill Climb circuit will welcome more than 50 competitors across two days of jam-packed action – with many returning after tackling the course back in April as part of the third round of the series.
Each entrant will have multiple attempts in posting their fastest possible time to the peak, with 946 metres of tight and twisty turns and corners standing between them and the trophy.
While all competitors will battle it out for the fastest single time to become the weekend's outright winner, many will have the sole focus of claiming top honours in their respective classes which are decided by vehicle type, engine power and other contributing factors to promote fair competition.
These classes include a variety of Formula classified vehicles like Libres, Fords and Vees, while a vast range of Sports Cars and Sedans will also compete against similar vehicles grouped by their drivetrain and engine power classifications.
Historic car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of Historic Sports and racing classes that are also bound to take to the course this weekend.
A handful of returnees headline the impressive entry list for the weekend's action with Jim Milliner, David Quelch and Luke Weiks all returning after amassing top five outright finishes last time out.
Greg Tebble and Matthew Read are also expected to apply some heavy pressure to the frontrunners after cracking the top 10 in April, while Superkart runner Mick Harders will look to upset the dominance of the Formula Libres ahead.
The official timed runs will begin at 11am local time on Saturday, before Sunday’s action starts at 8:30am.
Spectators are welcome to attend the event with plenty of great viewing spots available around the track.
The fourth round of the Mt Cotton Hillclimb Series will take place at the Mt Cotton Hill Climb Course on 24-25 June.
