The 2023 Ray Pank Winter Cup reaches its climax this weekend with the fourth and final round of the season taking place at the famous Collingrove Hill Climb.

Once again hosted by the Sporting Car Club of South Australia (SCCSA), the finale will see the 2023 champion crowned after the round’s 93 competitors attempt to post the fastest time on the hill climb.

Returning to fight for the win once again is one of the country’s top hill climbers in David Mahon, fresh off a round three win of more than three seconds.

Harry Pfeiffer will also join him in the stacked line-up after finishing third at the previous round, as well as Alexander Rowley and Paul Healey who delivered one of the season’s most exciting battles in their fight for fourth.

Also adding to this weekend’s excitement are Nathan Greene, David Coombe, Bradley De Luca and Matthew Benneche who finished in the top 10 with less than a second separating them.

But separate from the theatrics fronting the line-up are a number of parent and child teams, new competitors and seasoned drivers celebrating remarkable milestones.

“Hill climbing is for everyone. We have entrants aged from 14 to 83-years-old and vehicles ranging from historic through to the latest Porsche,” event organiser Melissa Rees said.

“There are several sets of brothers, and parents competing with their children, making for some healthy family competition, but also new competitors and the return of some seasoned campaigners.

“This weekend’s event will also see some vehicles celebrating 50 years of Collingrove competition, most notably John Parker in his Chimera.

“But on the other hand, it’s awesome to see some of our younger drivers like Shelbey Farley and Elliott Redwood, who are both only 14, returning to the track.

“This round will also be last opportunity to take to the Collingrove track before the Motorsport Australia SCCSA 2023 South Australian State Hill Climb Championship in October, so we invite everyone to come along.”

Entries for the event have closed, but those interested are encouraged to attend as spectators, with SCCSA members getting free spectator entry.

The fourth and final round of the Ray Pank Winter Cup will take place at the Collingrove Hill Climb Circuit on 20 August.
