Three wildcard entries will join a hungry, competitive field of drivers to take the track at next month's highly anticipated Repco Bathurst 1000.

Headlining the wildcard inclusions will be one of Supercars’ most decorated drivers, Craig Lowndes – who will feature alongside Zane Goddard in the Supercheap Auto Camaro campaigned by Triple Eight Race Engineering.

Fellow wildcards include the Ford Mustangs of Dick Johnson Racing’s Kai Allen and Swiss driver Simona De Silvestro, and Blanchard Racing Team’s Aaron Love and Jake Kostecki rounding out the 28-strong field.

A number of notable co-drivers will return alongside the usual full-time supercar competitors – including another decorated driver in Jamie Whincup.

With four Bathurst wins already to his name, the now Triple Eight Team Principal will once again line up alongside Broc Feeney in the #88 Camaro following an emphatic win at the Sandown 500 earlier this month.

But a second-straight win for the duo won't come easy, with numerous championship contenders eager to take back the top step of the podium come the first weekend of October.

Championship leader Brodie Kostecki will line up alongside the ever-consistent David Russell for the 1000-kilometre enduro in the Erebus Motorsport Camaro, and will be looking to extend his championship lead over last year’s Bathust 1000 winner Shane van Gisbergen, who will pilot the other Triple Eight entry alongside Richie Stanaway.

After four straight years of partnering with van Gisbergen, Garth Tander will this time go his separate way and pair with Grove Racing’s David Reynolds – his first around Mount Panorama in a Ford.

Two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert will look to power his Walkinshaw Andretti United Mustang to bring his co-driver Lee Holdsworth’s first Bathurst win, while 2009 and 2016 Bathurst 1000 winner Will Davison will be looking to bring his brother Alex Davison on the journey for their first together.

Triple Eight won't be the only team fielding more than the usual two entries in the event, with the Allen/De Silvestro inclusion bringing Dick Johnson Racing’s total up to three - while both Brad Jones Racing and Tickford Racing will both see four Gen3 Supercars race under their respective banners.

Chevrolet Camaro’s will make up the majority of the field with 15 entries, while the remaining 13 will fly the blue flag for Ford’s Mustang.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 will take place at the world-famous Mount Panorama Circuit on 5-8 October.
