Alex Rullo has extended his lead at the top of the West Australian Rally Championship standings by dominating the Champion Autoglass Grimwade Stages.
The third round of the WARC season greeted 30 crews taking on the eight-stage event around the Donnybrook and Grimwade forests.
With James Marquet calling the notes, Bosch Motorsport Australia Rally Championship front-runner Alex Rullo won each stage to win the rally – making it his third of the season having won the opening two rounds.
The Hyundai i20 Rally2 provided a thrilling duel against his father Peter Rullo and Ben Searcy across the first five stages, eventually it was the Toyota Yaris AP4 duo of Dylan King and Abbey Hayes who claimed the runner-up position. Peter Rullo and Ben Searcy rounded out the podium in the third.
While the top three were in a league of their own, Timothy Hiles and co-driver Morgan Ward in their Subaru WRX secured fourth place, with Gary Mills and Mitchell Gray in fifth. Hiles and Ward would claim the Production Cup honours for the event.
In sixth place behind Mills’ Peugeot 208 AP4 were Mitsubishi drivers Thomas Loughton and Michael Lloyd, who managed to finish ahead from the competitive Nissan Silvia of Nicholas Box and Caleb Ash. Box and Ash would also win the 2WD class, ahead of Glenn Alcorn and Jonathan Charlesson’s Toyota AE86.
The battle to round out the top 10 saw two Subarus battling against each other with Benjamin Perard and Anthony Staltari steering their car to secure the ninth place, whilst Camden Puzey and Adrian Burney took the tenth place in their Subaru Legacy RS.
