QMROA secures vehicle for transporting young motorsport officials
The Queensland Motor Racing Officials Association (QMROA) this week announced the arrival of a new vehicle to support the transportation of aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Junior Officials to and from racing events.
This is an important step towards developing future talent in motorsport and shows QMROA’s commitment to helping those with barriers to accessing opportunities and events.
This effort began when QMROA Secretary Paul Baxter approached Roland Dane of Triple 8 Engineering during the Shannons SpeedSeries to discuss to barriers on entry at official level.
Thanks to Baxter’s persistence and Dane’s prompt support, the vehicle requirements have been addressed.
Dane was motivated by the initiative and its potential benefits and quickly reached out to Suttons Group in Sydney. In an impressive show of efficiency and generosity, Suttons Group arranged the acquisition of a Kia Carnival.
This vehicle will now play a crucial role in transporting young and aspiring officials to important motorsport events across the region.
Treasurer at QMROA Nick Perkins expressed his gratitude for this initiative and the generosity shown in its support.
“A heartfelt thank you goes to the Suttons Group for their invaluable contribution and patience,” Perkins said.
“Their support ensured that all necessary checks, including registration, insurance, and delivery to Brisbane, were completed without imposing additional costs on QMROA’s budget.”
Although this is an incredible stride, QMROA recognises the need for ongoing financial support in line with the growing interest from young people eager to enter the sport.
To maximise the impact, QMROA is reaching out to the broader community, including businesses and potential benefactors for contributions, aiming to gather multiple donations to support the future of young officials.
