Supercars drivers will push their cars to the limit this weekend as the 24-car Supercars field prepares to do battle at the betr Darwin Triple Crown.

There will be three Supercars races this weekend fulfilling the event’s namesake with one race each day at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway, the sixth round of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship.

Expected to involve high humidity and temperatures approaching the 30s, this year’s weather and on-track action will be hot as each driver eyes up the prestigious Triple Crown win.

2026 has been anything but one-sided to any particular driver with eight different race winners tallied in the first 16 races. The results signal one of the most competitive seasons to date.

2024 Supercars Champion Will Brown has not won a race yet in 2026, as the Toowoomba native sits eighth in the championship, hampered by several on-track scraps already this season.

Brown has also further upped his physical training game ahead of this weekend’s three races. The 28-year old has suffered on multiple occasions from overheating in his Supercar, with rules updated heading into this weekend to ensure driver cooling systems are working correctly.

PremiAir Racing’s Declan Fraser is one of the more fit drivers on the Supercars grid, but similarly expects a fierce challenge in the car and on the track across all three days of racing. A Mackay representative, Fraser returned to the full-time grid this year after two seasons competing only in the endurance races.

While results are yet to truly shine for Fraser, the revamped PremiAir team is making considerable progress with its competitiveness, giving Fraser confidence that big results are not far away.

Among the Grove Racing pair, Kai Allen scored his first Supercars podiums in Darwin last year, jump starting a stunning run to the Grand Final. The 20-year old from Mount Gambier currently sits fifth in the 2026 standings.

Matt Payne is second in the championship currently, trailing Gold Coaster and championship leader Broc Feeney by 90 points heading into the start of action on Friday.

In event news, the Northern Territory government announced the introduction of night-time Supercars racing in Darwin in 2027.

A Friday night race, Saturday twilight race, and Sunday day time race will make Supercars’ visit to the Top End an instant feature on next year’s calendar.

Supercars hits the track Friday morning at 10:05am ACST for first practice, with a 100-kilometre race from 5:00pm local time Friday.

200-kilometre races on Saturday (3:20pm) and Sunday (2:40pm) will round out the betr Darwin Triple Crown.

The driver who scores the most points across the weekend will be awarded the Darwin Triple Crown.

This weekend’s event is also Supercars’ annual Indigenous Round, and will see all 24 Supercars dressed in unique indigenous-themed liveries, featuring artwork designed by indigenous artists.

Broc Feeney leads the Championship standings by 90 points over Kiwi Matt Payne heading into the start of action on Friday.

Live coverage of the betr Darwin Triple Crown can be followed on Foxtel and Kayo from Friday.
