IndyCar – Portland
Will Power has continued his strong form in the 2026 IndyCar Series, securing a third-place finish at the Grand Prix of Portland for Andretti Global.
Starting from third on the grid, Power remained firmly in contention throughout the 110-lap race at Portland International Raceway, producing a consistent performance in the #26 Honda. He spent much of the race running inside the podium positions and ultimately crossed the line third, just over eight seconds behind race winner Alex Palou.
Power had been in position to challenge Felix Rosenqvist for second place during the closing stages, but a missed pit call during the final round of stops cost him valuable track position. He was subsequently caught in traffic behind backmarkers, preventing him from mounting a serious challenge for the runner-up spot.
Despite the missed opportunity, Power was pleased with the overall performance, describing it as a strong day for the Andretti team. He felt the car was only a couple of tenths off the pace of Palou and Rosenqvist across the race.
The result marks Power’s third podium of the season with Andretti Global and continues an impressive run of results at Portland, where he has now finished on the podium in three consecutive visits.
IndyCar returns to action in Markham, Ontario, from August 15-17.
IndyNXT – Portland
Lochie Hughes led the Australian charge at the Grand Prix of Portland, securing a hard-fought second-place finish in INDY NXT.
Hughes was competitive throughout the weekend, immediately showing strong pace by finishing third in the opening practice session before going fifth-fastest in the following practice session.
He then delivered when it mattered most in qualifying, topping Group 2 and securing second on the combined grid.
Starting from the front row for Andretti Global, Hughes maintained his position throughout the race to claim second place and another podium result.
HMD Motorsports’ Jack Beeton also showed promising pace across the weekend, making steady progress through the practice sessions. After finishing 16th in FP1, Beeton moved up to 11th in FP2 before qualifying seventh in Group 2.
His combined qualifying position of 14th left him with work to do in the race, where he gained one position to finish 13th.
For Nicolas Stati, Portland proved to be a more challenging weekend.
Stati finished 22nd in both practice sessions before qualifying 11th in Group 1. His combined qualifying result of 21st put him towards the back of the field for the race, and he ultimately finished 23rd, but kept a composed drive to bring the car back to the pits for Cusick Morgan Motorsports.
The INDY NXT field will return to action at the Milwaukee Mile on August 30 for the next round of the championship.
USF2000 – Portland
Brad Majman and Eddie Beswick enjoyed a strong weekend at Portland, with both Australians qualifying inside the top three and delivering a top-five finish.
Australia’s Brad Majman and Eddie Beswick showed strong pace for Pabst Racing at the latest USF2000 round at Portland International Raceway, although both endured contrasting fortunes across the two races.
Majman was immediately on the pace, finishing third in practice before qualifying second on the grid.
He converted that front-row starting position into a sixth-place finish in Race 1, but was unable to repeat that result in Race 2, dropping to 13th at the chequered flag.
Beswick was equally competitive in qualifying, placing fifth in practice before securing third on the grid.
His opening race proved more difficult, however, with the Australian finishing 16th after starting from the second row.
He responded strongly in Race 2, moving back into the top five to claim fifth place and finish as the highest-placed Australian in the second encounter.
The results add to a strong season for both Pabst Racing drivers. Majman entered Portland second in the championship standings, while Beswick was third, with the pair having already combined for multiple wins and podium finishes during the 2026 campaign.
With two rounds remaining, both remain firmly in championship contention with Majman sitting second in the standings with 269 points and Beswick in third with 230 points. Both Aussies trail championship leader Sebastian Garzon on 298 points.
The USF2000 teams and drivers now head east for another pair of races next weekend at a highly anticipated brand-new event on the streets of Markham, Ontario in Canada.
British Hillclimb Championship – Shelsley Walsh
Australian Dean Tighe returned back to Shelsley Walsh for the latest round of the British Hillclimb Championship in his new Gould GR59 Judd DB4.
Tighe opened up the weekend with a solid Practice run, going 12th-fastest on the course with a 27.46 effort.
Falling just one spot out of the Round 21 Run Off, Tighe clocked the 11th-fastest time for the first half of the weekend with a 25.72 effort and falling agonisingly short of the top 10.
Tighe again fell outside of the of the Round 22 Run Off, which included the top 12, finishing 14th with a time of 25.77.
While unlucky not to make either run off from the weekend, Tighe’s placings have steadily increased in recent rounds and will look to continue that trend in Rounds 23 and 24, to be held at Loton Park in the penultimate round of the championship.
